I saw him about a month ago and he was pretty bad. Couldn't sustain any energy for more than a song or two, couldn't get the crowd going, didn't even really have a grasp of the basics of putting on a rap show (his DJ fucked up song cues a lot, too). Shockingly amatuerish, all around.

Didn't help that it was one of the youngest, most inhibited crowds I've ever seen at a rap show. Lots of gangly high school kids who worship this guy but expressed their reverence with silence.

found this to be true of the album tbh. dirge after dirge after dirge, a real chore to get through

i'm sure the lyrics are ~really deep thoughts but he doesn't make them sound captivating at all

the whole album is a dirge but it's potent rather than enervated. so oppressive it's tactile, blotting out the space

I liked that last album til Things Happened and I lost my entire saved stuff, but I was playing some loosie playlist this morn and ohoho, this stood out, my mother busted in my house midway through and we drunk coffee and ate angel cake, but I noted this one (out of the 3 I heard that day) as the one to come back to, and yeah it's awesome, maybe not if you're into Earl for the rhymes but, that loop was in my skull all afternoon, drinking coffee with my maw and trying to stay genteel.

“Some Rap Songs” release date 11/30. The last one has really stuck w me so hopeful for this. The beats for the two new songs he released stand out imo.

really love this! have to admit that i'm a sucker for the madlibish production style anyways and Earl is such a great lyricist imo

well sht I might have to get this. I'm always irked by albums with no track > 3 mins. But usually those are like 70+mins long tho anyway!

The singles didn't grab me on first listen, but they sound better/make more sense in the context of the album as a whole. It's not really an album of "singles."

new 7 track halloween release with black phillip on the cover, sounds like offcuts from some rap songs and that suits me fine

last three tracks are all genuinely great, better than anything on some rap songs imo
