At this point the Prodigy really are starting to sound like Jeremy's 'Outrageous' bedroom track from Peep Show.

agreed.bills have to be paid.suspect that they are beginning to learn that being outside the loop means you can do/say whatever the fuck you like, whereas now with signatures provided on various forms, life is no longer that simple.expect lyrics re being fucked over by the music industry in 2 years.

i really enjoy themthey feel to me like something that's not going to last, or at least in a vital way, for a super long timebut that's ok too, not everything needs toi mean jeez i could count some of the greatest punk bands of all time that never had more than a handful of singles and maybe an album
― kurt kobaïan (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 26 March 2015 18:47 (eleven years ago)
Jase and Andy.Your job is now done. You were absolutely vital and I thank you for that shot in the arm.
Seen Seaford Mods as much as I saw Husker Du. They are now at the 'Warehouse...' phase. Fearny no longer required
Yes, I am an old bastard like SM. Where's the yoooof? They must be so contented with their Xbox , FB and zzzzzzzzIs music dead?

this isn't intended as a criticism but you always sound drunk when you post
― pissbaby nobody in the corner (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 29 March 2015 16:56 (eleven years ago)
Saw them in Hebden Bridge two nights ago. Sixth time I've seen them, but the first time outside Nottingham. Hands-down the best show I've ever seen them do. Never seen Jason so absorbed, intense and fierce.
― mike t-diva, Sunday, 29 March 2015 18:40 (eleven years ago)
Thanks Mencap.
I'm actually a straight edge vegan. Since last night. I was a touch hungover (possibly still drunk, so well spotted) and my post was rather poor . I wish I could retract it.
Sleaford Mods are vital.

Dont know anything about this band but last year I lived 3 minutes walk from the Trades Club (which is where I presume this was)
― anvil, Monday, 30 March 2015 19:24 (eleven years ago)
It was, of course, the venerable Trades Club - talk about "core constituency".
― mike t-diva, Monday, 30 March 2015 20:58 (eleven years ago)
The support act, a performance poet, drew a furious heckle: "STOP USING CUNT AS A DEROGATORY TERM". The first song on the SM set list? Oh, I see you're ahead of me.
― mike t-diva, Monday, 30 March 2015 21:02 (eleven years ago)
that sounds like Hebden, did you stay over, there?
― anvil, Tuesday, 31 March 2015 11:07 (eleven years ago)
Yes, at Croft Mill, which was A+. Found the music store slash cafe the following morning, spent a happy half hour there.
― mike t-diva, Tuesday, 31 March 2015 11:38 (eleven years ago)
amazing show tonight in Manchester. they've got this new one (possibly Bronx In A Six) which has a mentally loud (and fantastic) bass that was giving me major MBV flashbacks.
― piscesx, Saturday, 16 May 2015 00:17 (eleven years ago)
Surprised nobody is talking about the new one, which has some minor departures (more surreal lyrics in some places; some vocals that are very nearly sung). It's really great

I reviewed it a few weeks ago, and I think it's their best yet: a consolidation and a progression. The Tarantula Deadly Cargo/Rupert Trousers/Giddy On The Ciggies sequence towards the end of Side 2 is particularly killer.

really digging it, feels like maybe they were saving their a-game for the Rough Trade debut, best since Divide & Exit

slightly expanding, vox a little more melodic..last song "I Feel So Wrong" is pretty...lush (relatively speaking) for them

It comes as a relief after the TCR EP; lead track aside, I thought the other ones were coasting it a bit. But this is bang on again.
― mike t-diva, Tuesday, 7 March 2017 17:14 (nine years ago)
yeah TCR EP was pretty weak I thought, TIWAS maxi/single EP thing was pretty ok, mostly just because they were probably contractually obligated to eventually title a song "Bunch of Cunts"
― blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 7 March 2017 19:51 (nine years ago)

― ogmor, Wednesday, 8 March 2017 15:47 (nine years ago)
Yeah otm, hearing the awfulness of Slaves made a pretty great case to me of just how much Sleaford Mods do right
― devvvine, Wednesday, 8 March 2017 15:54 (nine years ago)
i agree but i think too many bands don't risk being embarrassing now
or i like the earnestness disguised as cynicism
in their very minimal, blunt instrument way i think that their beats are kind of amazing and catchy
― blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 8 March 2017 15:56 (nine years ago)
they have such a limited musical palette that i'm pretty surprised they've managed to last this long
― blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 8 March 2017 15:57 (nine years ago)
Re the "where in the history of other bands do they fit in" vein present in parts of this thread: might an elephant in the room be Carter USM?
Then again, a track on the new one reminded me of DAF more than anything!
"Just Like We Do" cracks me up, especially the phrase "social medias".
― anatol_merklich, Friday, 17 March 2017 01:30 (nine years ago)
What's a drag, is that there is a cassette edition, couple of hundred, with odd nick-nacks freebies, and side 1 has the album and side 2 has a live gig.
Now, I'd like the live gig, but it sold out in seconds and it's now selling on ebay for around £50.
The package comes with a download for the live gig (only), but no place else to get it.

Would still take Prinzhorn Dance School over these lads.
― nashwan, Friday, 17 March 2017 13:29 (nine years ago)
i guess they felt a little more like a proper band and also more part of what was going on w/dance music at the time, to me at least
Fearn's deciding to not do the whole phony "let me put my headphones on one ear and pretend i'm messing with all these knobs" thing is def one of my fav things about SM
― blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 17 March 2017 13:29 (nine years ago)
I think they're ironically aware of the Carter USM thing; there's a track on the new album that is somewhat laden with You Fat Bastards.
― mike t-diva, Saturday, 18 March 2017 00:09 (nine years ago)
