this song sounds nice but I don't find it particularly strong, especially compared to her best previous material.
I'm a bit surprised by the raving reactions here.
I'm glad she, herself, didn't consider this song good enough for the album.
It means there are better things to expect !

this song is great ... reminds me of "vowels = space + time" (my fav song of hers) in that could be a pop song but it's too impressionistic, but not too impressionistic that it feels like she wasted an opportunity to make a good pop song (if that makes sense). it's a fine balance.

Yeah I love this and I was on the fence about Grimes' stuff before now (although I did like 'Genesis' a lot).

hum. I must be missing something...
to me it's a nice album track or b-side (like these things still exist !). I like the production and arrangements but the songwriting isn't great.
it's nowhere near Vanessa, Oblivion, Genesis... or Vowels which is much better !

It's like watching the sweet girl from your summer camp mess hall table, the one who actually talks nicely to you even though you can barely get a word out and just stare meekly, suddenly get up on stage at the camp talent show and just destroy everyone

I mean there is something about the way she manages to come off as unpolished yet is obviously an incredible dancer.

A lot of that is in her vocals, I think. She lets them peter out and drift away, and especially on this song she seems to leave whole lines unfinished, like she's omitted whole words for you to fill in. Pretty powerful; the entire song feels like that climactic, inaudible whisper from Lost in Translation

haha yeah I realized it was a little tacky after I clicked submit. But I do think it's an effective approach; leaving something undefined in a song that's otherwise so poppy and direct

i think it's just really exciting to hear her voice again, everyone is so otm about her impressionistic singing and production, let's hope the LP is out this year maybe

I think it might be because I recently watched KOTOKO, but I'm getting a bit of a Cocco vibe from her these days.

Reminds me of this feeling when discovering Visions and being not quite sure what to make it but enjoying it and playing it over and over and over. I can't think of a Grimes that had lasting effect for me (maybe Vanessa?) but the first few tens listen are intensely satisfying.

love the whispered parts of this. and her dancing. and everything about her vocals. it's been a long time since i've felt this enthusiastic about an upcoming album.

Realiti is very good has a nice swing to it and considering she doesn't apparently have any help at all in production she uses her brilliant voice so smartly. One difference from her previous songs on realiti is that it seems a lot more clearly influenced by other music.

tbh her other music is influenced by some of her faves who haven't made it as big!

I'm all for Grimes making a pop crossover, but that Entropy song is so paint by numbers.

yeah, it's ok but it's not thrilling the way realiti is. i'm not sure i am all for anyone crossing over for the sake of crossing over. what's the point?

i also don't think she is doing that, or thinking about her career in those terms. a song like realiti just sounds marketable because it is so polished, but it's still very much a grimes song.

someone just told me "isn't she like, if you've heard one of her songs, you've heard them all"?

I could certainly do with fewer interjections of "Oh Baby" in her songs.

do you think the song is referencing bowie's "once there were mountains on mountains" refrain on realiti? i think the song is kind of a rejoinder to that. bowie sings that he used to not be able to "come down" but now he doesn't think he can get back up. grimes is saying that you will always come down eventually -- so bowie's past feelings of invincibility were an illusion -- and life consists in climbing back up "every morning." seems like a winning attitude if you can maintain it.

I like the new song, even if it's not as distinctive or immediate as Realiti. I also like that her vocals seem to be clearer and more intelligible than usual (either that or a week of listening to Realiti has made me Grimes-fluent)

the new song is pleasant though not as immediately gratifying as realiti. i'd been struggling to come to terms with the idea of grimes being influenced by artists like dolly parton, taylor swift and paramore so this helps somewhat to clarify those inspirations.

also like "Go" entropy is a collab that I wouldn't read too much into re: new album

it's a one-off for a tv show that seems to be billed 'bleachers feat. grimes.' i think it's just a thing she did for fun and an easy check.
