this was the album she signed to rocnation to make, repeatedly warned fans would be mainstream, and debuted with a dubstep single she bragged about having been originally penned for rihanna. i don't personally think she would've met with great success, commercially, but it's clear that's what she was intending, and it's clear it i would have liked it very a lot.

"go" was never intended to be on any album

there isn't and hasn't ever been any other grimes music that sounds like "go"

she signed to roc nation management (not the label arm, the management arm) because they're a great management company. roc nation also manages matthew dear.

the "lost album" was scrapped around the time she changed management. "go" didn't even exist yet, in any form. it was not a factor.

on twitter she seems quite surprised by all the positive reception this is getting so i hope that means that the album is even better because it's definitely one of the best things she's done

not so much "lost album" as "lost"/scrapped direction for her next album. also, the "go" thing, if actually a misconception, comes courtesy the press:

I think Grimes sounds really good filtered through a "pandering to the radio" box.

I mean I really like her just slightly offbeat take on a radio-friendly single.

I could do without the dubsteppy part, but it's not that bad as far as those kinds of parts go

imo the dubsteppy part on the "go" demo was maybe a bit much but the final version was perfect

I really like the "Phone Sex" song she did with Blood Diamonds a couple years before "Go".

She is such an AWFUL musician and songstress!
