I'm still not sure about this song. Sort of everything is in place… but it feels like there are too many "really"s in the chorus? It's as if she's trying to convince herself. I mean, the music conveys this feeling of euphoria and full-blown infatuation, but somehow even she isn't buying it? Maybe I've got it all wrong.

The verses are perfect, though. And the vocals are great too!

^ otm "Bad GIrls" is a decent sketch and "All That" is a polished and refined end result.

Losing You is great, imo, but Bad Girls and Everything Is Embarrassing are flat and ponderous. I'll have to remind myself what else he's behind that's not his own solo work, but I know there were more than a few songs on Cupid Deluxe that I thought were great and some I didn't like AT ALL. Dude's a puzzle.

what I meant was that I listened to it once all the way through, was underwhelmed, went back to listen to the solange and britney songs to make sure they was what I was really hearing and not "snow on the sahara" or "truly madly deeply", ended up getting stuck relistening at least once and in solange's case like five times to each of them, tried to listen to carly again, several times, gave up each time.

also both Bad Girls and Everything Is Embarrassing have fucking great bridges, the former possibly top five bridges of all time, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

we're coming at it from very different angles definitely

"losing you" is one of my least favorite songs of the last few years. i love "everything is embarrassing" while recognizing its limitations. my neutral/edging-on-positive feelings toward "want your feeling" i pin down almost exclusively to jessie ware

(obligatory: I like Carly Rae Jepsen, I loved the last single, I like large swaths of _Kiss_, I wouldn't listen to her new single repeatedly at -- christ -- 2 a.m. if I was just hijacking the thread to troll it, sometimes songs just don't work for people and even fans, I'd really like to not have hate mail be the first thing I read upon waking up, okay goodnight)

Basically I think Dev Hynes' greatest contribution to popular music in the past few years is making it cool to sound like mainstream 1985 again. Not "cool" 1985.
