One of the things that fascinates me about Thug is how he's become one of rap's biggest stars, yet nobody is clamoring for an album, let alone pondering what shape an album might take. Like, an album isn't even on the radar; it seems like he could keep carrying on without ever releasing one and it wouldn't hurt his popularity/success any.

"fascinates" is probably the wrong word, but it just sorta hits home that for a certain kind of artist the album is an irrelevant/obsolete form

Supposedly he was scheduled to release an album last April (which presumably would have been anchored by "Stoner" and "Danny Glover") before his label troubles got the best of him.

With Young Thug hanging out with Birdman, I see some folks saying the Carter VI thing and the plan to name his next series of projects Carter VI through X, is just a dig at Wayne via Birdman. Still can't tell what's gonna be a tape or an actual album though.
Lil Wayne's daughter is not happy with the title plans.

yeah it's definitely been for a year or two and someone on twitter said he was saying that all the way back in 2012. it also kinda feels like Thug would be reductive of his own unique talent if he named a record that, though. like for him to hang onto that title after he's grown out of Wayne's shadow, what's the point.

i can't believe he's actually making tha carter VI. i love it in concept but idk how i'm gonna feel if it actually happens

So my problem with Tha Carter title is that so many people dismiss Young Thug as trolling, especially with the way he dresses and occasionally flips hetero-normative conventions. But here he really is trolling, and that makes it easier to dismiss everything else he does as trolling, too
