The Meat Puppets played this tiny Mankato bar just after I moved away, too. Like the kinda bar that all the local whatever bands and bands that ain't shit in Mpls come and play. Would love to have seen them there.

very, very intrigued by the possibility of seeing music in kampala, but not sure if our schedule will allow. i actually think a film about changing musical traditions in areas recently or currently beset with conflict would be interesting. like, is there "conflict music?" are people seeking refuge in older ways or forging new shit in light of new and alarming social conditions or what?

you know where the bedlam theater is? it's behind there, across the light rail tracks. looks like it used to be a muffler shop or something, doing some cool shows, mostly free jazz/weirdo rock/improv type stuff i think

i saw milo fine and paul metzger there

Yeah I'm in Auckland NZ. Everyone talks trash on it and says it's boring but after about 8 years of 'Kato it's like a riot. Like I walked down the street and saw Pumice, and everything's tropical and shit. It's dope IMO.

But I'll be back around the end of Nov / early Dec.
