ILX social norms not "vastly more interesting" than - anything. People were inexplicably talking about me on a thread I had no part in. I wanted to know what it was all about. initials I thought were acronyms = my trying to figure out why. Personal rather than general interest.

Sorry that I don't follow every little spat on ILX. If I was having a fight with somebody that day, for example, I didn't have any reason to think I was. Search functions exist, go show me what obvious thing was going on worth reviving this thread that day.)

Having scanned this thread, I will say the continued group paranoia regarding who posters "really" are is revealing, kind of interesting.

Poster x is really poster y. or poster z come back from before, or A GHOST! I think he got banned. I heard he killed a guy. I heard she's a WITCH.

many lavatories in jr. high, grasshopper. Sorry I stumbled into this one.

Vic Perry, Sunday, 25 January 2015 20:04 (eleven years ago)

sorry I find sociology more interesting than use of acronyms while typing (the explanation of which is plainly obvious)

Sorry I stumbled into this one.

you're not alone in that, believe me

just a throwaway remark if i remember correctly prompted by a reply to mordy you made on some other thread which was expressing a very common ilx sort of opinion but in a rambling, unfunny and didactic way

don't take these as final words about your character or an excommunication

if you want someone to start an ask vic perry thread to address anything related to you then that can be arranged, people will probably ask you about albums by bands and that sort of thing

nakhchivan, Sunday, 25 January 2015 20:42 (eleven years ago)

Vic Perry, did you ever manage to find out what rusticated means?

o.m.g. lol @ hurt butt (wins), Sunday, 25 January 2015 20:47 (eleven years ago)

Yes, thanks. True, I had a fight with Mordy. That's very unusual. I get your point.

trust that 'vic perry' will be rusticated in half the time it took for ilx to see off rt

idk if anybody is trying to drive off joe biden so much as not getting a lot of value out of his (not everyone builds their life around deciphering acronyms of lazy Typing Words So Hard people) schtick and other fumbling approximations at understanding or expressing simple things

Same guy writes both posts. Encouraging to see the unforced backtracking.

the first post isnt entirely sincere, just a reference to how rt was similarly obtuse to begin with

nakhchivan, Sunday, 25 January 2015 21:15 (eleven years ago)

The second post is entirely sincere, he believes I am Joe Biden.

Vic Perry, Sunday, 25 January 2015 21:36 (eleven years ago)

wait, is Joe Biden VP or not?

how is not knowing a person's actual identity like middle school? IIRC middle school sucked but we all knew who each other were

"actual identity"

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 26 January 2015 01:23 (eleven years ago)

i think it feels like middle school when some dude like RT, displaying standard internet message board traits like arrogance, disdain for post-90s hip hop, and European-ness, shows up on ILX and a bunch of posters can't believe that he could be an actual person and must solve the mystery of whose sock this is.

I dunno the etiquette for this stuff; is it rude to ask why Racoon got banned? I get why people didn't like him, but did he cross a line, or was it just more of a general irritation thing?

Evan R, Monday, 26 January 2015 20:01 (eleven years ago)

In addition to his usual schtick, he went full-on into a full-on anti-Semitic frothing fit on the Charlie Hebdo thread.

was tanuki banned? i don't see it in the admin log

Treeship, Monday, 26 January 2015 20:11 (eleven years ago)

The banning system was not functioning at the time that he was accruing multiple FPs. Stet said that he didn't know how long it would take him to fix it. As a work-around, since RT was continuing to be a problem for a LOT of posters, we deleted his account. RT re-registered as Arctic Noon Auk and once banning was fixed we banned that account.

I once saved a baby raccoon that had gotten stuck in a tall cylindrical trash can in very hot weather. You cannot save them all.

Banning is so lame

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Monday, 26 January 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

if ilx was a democracy, it wouldn't happen. back in october there a referendum was called on the quesiton of unbanning all banned posters. the results were 25 to 11 in favor of the motion but the mods overrode it.

Treeship, Monday, 26 January 2015 21:09 (eleven years ago)

self-directed breaks are better, which you seem to do fairly regularly, looking forward to your next one. xp
