YES STATS ZONE: ILM 2014 Tracks Poll Thread of Ballots, Statistics and Meditation is good folks. You can see your top neighbours and the full results and other awesome stats

Brilliant run out, great list! Thanks hugely!

That Edward album is fantastic, been listening to that as much as anything since the noms thread.

wow #pray4shmurda illuminati finally got him

lag∞n, Thursday, 22 January 2015 22:50 (eleven years ago)

Top 2 tracks basically the only ones not mired in controversy in this thread.

abcfsk, Thursday, 22 January 2015 22:52 (eleven years ago)

lol i just noticed that iggy azalea came...

=194th.

lex pretend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 22:53 (eleven years ago)

i have mired them in controversy for not featuring young thug, huge oversight, unacceptable

lag∞n, Thursday, 22 January 2015 22:54 (eleven years ago)

i also like that the system rewards enthusiasm rather than bottom-of-ballot consensus (contra what some seem to think). nicki minaj was #77 with 5 votes, presumably all high; whereas 6 votes, presumably all low, only got route 94 to #264.

lex pretend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 22:57 (eleven years ago)

Thanks to everyone involved in the rollout, great fun as always.

Gavin, Leeds, Thursday, 22 January 2015 22:58 (eleven years ago)

Albums coming Monday morning. No fancy graphics, just album art. Lots of good looking album art in 2014, tho, so...um, yay!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:00 (eleven years ago)

more than anything I will treasure the utter bafflement of my stepson and daughter-in-law when they showed up at our house last night and L and I were plowing through 40-21, they were like "this is not what we expected you to be listening to"

thanks everyone, great job, I am now officially a Nicki Minaj fan

the top 40 is just the sound of autotuned crying (sleeve), Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:01 (eleven years ago)

Also, they will not be in black & white (unless they're intentionally in black & white). xp

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:01 (eleven years ago)

YES DAWSON YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I was convinced he'd have, like, 4 votes, not 4 number ones. So great, thank you all.

Also, I like all of the top 3 tracks, which I'm pretty sure doesn't usually happen?

emil.y, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:12 (eleven years ago)

i like the whole top 5

lag∞n, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:14 (eleven years ago)

whole dang top 5 folks, its good

lag∞n, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:14 (eleven years ago)

I hadn't heard anyone outside of TSJ mention this song. Are there a lot of writers from there on ilm?

― the QT conundrum (Moka), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:01 (5 hours ago) Permalink

i'm on TSJ

also y'all properly dragged me for the "hot takes" comment and i deserved it, i know better now

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:16 (eleven years ago)

didn't take it personally, no worries

related q - are you a new poster? is this your first EOY poll? If so, welcome, etc.

it is! i literally spent a whole day going through the entire ILX list of lists and i became obsessed

v happy about "2 on" and "vermillion" placing in the top 10. i was one of the people who gave the latter a [10] on TSJ. it has come to represent the past 2 years of my life, so that's why i find it so precisely resonant and painfully relatable

i've been known to get way 2 on dancing to 2 on in the club, it's such a wonderful song

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:28 (eleven years ago)

Also, they will not be in black & white (unless they're intentionally in black & white). xp

thanks everyone for no sia, i personally appreciate it

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 January 2015 00:18 (eleven years ago)

this has been one of my favourite ILM countdown as there were many unexpected surprises

danzig, Friday, 23 January 2015 00:18 (eleven years ago)

41-60 the only disappointing day of the rollout imo (there's always at least one). I don't like about half of the top 20, but it's not the top 20 I expected so that's always cool.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 23 January 2015 00:20 (eleven years ago)

thanks everyone for no rtj, i personally appreciate it

hi!

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 23 January 2015 00:46 (eleven years ago)

deej's traditional failure to contribute anything except "looool" and expect us to know or care what he finds funny in full effect, i see

lex pretend, Friday, 23 January 2015 00:48 (eleven years ago)

deej's post directly followed lagoon's funny run the jewels post, you dick

EVERY HUGH JACKMAN HAS A VAN HELSING (some dude), Friday, 23 January 2015 00:55 (eleven years ago)

it happened upthread re: "german whip" as well

i didn't get the lagoon's post was a joke

YES! FUTURE ISLANDS DIDN'T TOP THE POLL!

*punches air*

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Friday, 23 January 2015 01:18 (eleven years ago)

fewer country songs in the end

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 23 January 2015 01:19 (eleven years ago)

All in all, though, I guess the poll has confirmed that 2014 in general just wasn't the year for me.

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Friday, 23 January 2015 01:33 (eleven years ago)

To add to Bobby Shmurda (get well soon Bobby), I have discovered (after my gf made me listen again) that the Meridian Dan song is actually well banging, and now I want a Volkswagen too

my shoes are deception (imago), Friday, 23 January 2015 01:44 (eleven years ago)

btw listened to that Taylor Swift song some more to figure out where Starbucks comes in

In order to fit the rhythm, "list of ex-lovers" becomes lih stahvex lovers

Stahvex is kind of Starbucks right

mh, Friday, 23 January 2015 01:48 (eleven years ago)

This "Skating Beats" thing is dope and better than most of the dance music that placed.

The Reverend, Friday, 23 January 2015 02:42 (eleven years ago)

I actually like this list better than last year's, but I know that's just because it better flatters things I know and/or like. Either way, I like the exercise. I think this is as good a slice of 2014 as anyone's going to find anywhere. Thanks to all involved.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Friday, 23 January 2015 04:02 (eleven years ago)

I feel like these results accurately reflect what a good year it was for rap and what a bad year it was for not-rap.

The Reverend, Friday, 23 January 2015 04:07 (eleven years ago)

otm - i voted for eleven rap songs and two not rap songs

wizaerd (Lamp), Friday, 23 January 2015 04:13 (eleven years ago)
