ILM's Top 77 Tracks of 2014

I haven't listened to Seasons since the day the Letterman performance video went semi-viral. Had totally forgotten what it sounds like, but this is alright I guess. Definitely preferable to Spoon or The War on Drugs for poll indie fuX0r content.

I didn't really have any hope for my #1 placing either, and it made #40!!!

Just coincidentally, and I know everybody's got other things on their minds, who were the other two who #1'd Pooley?

OK, there were a lot of xposts. This Future Islands song is the sort of thing that affirms that I don't really understand rock critics. I guess I don't mind it; maybe if it were in a movie I liked, I could get into it.

the lyrics are prob my favorite thing about "Seasons," the anger towards someone dragging their feet feels right for the current social/political zeitgeist

logged into all my google accounts just to downvote seasons letterman on YT. his dancing is a total beamer.

Production on Seasons misses the mark somehow. I love the overdriven melodrama but it doesn't quite nail the take-off in the chorus.

I think I voted for 20 tracks. "Blank Space" would have been #21. Maybe "Habits" and "Boom Clap" could have squeaked into a top 50?

I just listened to "seasons" all the way through for the first time, really paying attention. And it's okay! But not amazing.

It's really soft and grows on you, kinda like a jacket your mom buys you that you don't really like but when you wear it it feels really comfortable and you jsut find yourself reaching for that jacket every time

out of the 3 that i think will be in the top 3, the one that will probably be #1 is definitely the most boring choice. i like all 3 songs, but i'm rooting for the other 2 to win, even though odds are not stacked in their favor.

guessing it's gonna be 2 on which i'm fine with

pretty sure those indie songs got roughly as many negative opinions as eg the british rap songs, as I said earlier the projected coprolepsy on the part of pop squares seems weirdly important to fans of certain types of music but it isn't really borne out by the actual thread?

Oof. I was the first place vote and was pulling for it. I'm officially joining #teamtinache. "2 Weeks" is great but has no life outside of the album for me.

"2 on" would be a great winner imo, it was my favorite song of the year for at least three months
