Still not bored of Seasons despite playing it over and over most of the year. It's just such a beautiful song.

he totally does. studio version of "seasons" is v subdued in this respect though

Jordan that would make more sense if the 80s synthpop revival hadn't now been going on for longer than the actual 80s did.

I think of it as an old school Disney crooning ballad with a synthpop motor underneath it, there's something very innocent but also very corny about it.

Really it's more of a 60s pop ballad with 80s production than an 80s song.

Matt, that's the best description I've read!

I don't get the consensus on this one, it's an alright song but it doesn't scream 'indie anthem' like say 'All my friends' or some of those early Arcade Fire songs where I could understand where all the love was coming from. This just feels very derivative to me definitely not a top 10 song.

it's ok, i've come around on this, i like the singing quite a lot. and the orchestration is pretty rote at this point.

the whole album is so good big hearted strange expansive sad and jammy

gives hope to out of shape karaoke singers the world over

Like every time I hear this I hear Elton John singing it in his hammiest possible way and I can't get that out of my head, I actually liked it at first but I could quite happily never hear it again.

i mean, no one really knew what to make of music this year (that pitchfork #2 song had a zach de la rocha verse is evidence of this), and this song had meme momentum but is also just beautiful so it makes sense as a potential rallying point

2014 seems like a year where people just chose the most accessible item nearby in lieu of a clear standout.

Ha, I didn't know that this song was called "Hideaway" or is by someone named "Kiesza". I've heard it approx. 17 236 594 times. I did always wonder what it was since it sounds more like real house music than everything else on top 40 radio.

60s ballad would have more than 2 chords (slight exaggeration). and a bridge and a key change.

Tbh, I'm kind of surprised that anyone didn't hear "Starbucks lovers" in "Blank Space". P. sure it has to do with her enunciation: she emphasizes "of" in a way that a native speaker never would and doesn't pause at all after the "st" in "list".

Richard Dawson is good. I listened to the album once or twice and didn't totally click but I'm digging this. I don't mind the vocals but I actually like prog and English folk vocals.

The great thing about Season, for me at least, is that it never gets boring? I will never be unhappy to hear the song.
