The other TSwidz misheard lyric that always foxes me is in 'Style', always hear it was "And I got that Brad Pitt / Classic / Thing that you like", then I imagine her slightly aging but ruggedly handsome with a goatee.

everyone from London definitely voted for Clean Bandit

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

heard this one quite a bit out and about, love everything about it except the "No place I'd rather be" repetitions.

good song for midtier "fashion" clothing chains.

word.

The Reverend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

this "Rather Be" song is perfectly inoffensive but I cannot comprehend it's supposed magnitude

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

Vermillion is fantastic. Can't thank the Singles Jukebox enough for the discovery.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:00 (eleven years ago)

first time I heard "Rather Be" out and about was at the market veg stall, good tune for picking out broccoli to

seandalai, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:00 (eleven years ago)

this song is great

the aesthetics are all wrong (violins and general theatre kid vibe) but the core is a really emotional house song, so i'm down

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:00 (eleven years ago)

"rather be" was pretty big here too dude

Comment was also in relation to British rap and Richard Dawkins

good song for midtier "fashion" clothing chains

Dudes this is one step away from "wine bar music" in terms of moribund musical "discourse".

Matt DC, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:01 (eleven years ago)

It strikes me that I didn't know anything about Clean Bandit, what they looked like or what they represent, save for they made my song of the year. Assumed it was the name of a producer as opposed to a band. Maybe that helps?

quinoa: how's it spelt? (dog latin), Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:01 (eleven years ago)

the violin in the chorus almost ruins it for me

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:01 (eleven years ago)

midtier clothing chains such as urban outfitters often play great music in their stores, it's true

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:02 (eleven years ago)

The strings make it, IMO.

i was just imagining places it would make sense to hear this song, idk

call all destroyer, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:02 (eleven years ago)

Matt DC otm. You could call half the music in this thread 'fashion chain' music if you wanted. Besides, how is this song all that different to, say, the Classixx song from last year?

quinoa: how's it spelt? (dog latin), Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:03 (eleven years ago)

it's way worse

I prefer the wizard remix. Gets rid of the violins.

the QT conundrum (Moka), Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:04 (eleven years ago)

The video was made by the group and features Haruka Abe as a Japanese fan of the band.[21] The band comments: "The video is about a Japanese fan of the band who becomes delirious and has hallucinations of band members and our logo appearing unexpectedly in her daily life as a chef. Filming in Tokyo was an amazing experience: we spent almost a week there and everyone was so helpful. We made it ourselves as always, which was quite scary as we've never produced anything so far away before. We had a bit of trouble filming the scene on the train though. Turns out it's considered incredibly rude to make noise on a train so when we started dancing around to the track in the carriage with the extras, it didn't go down well! Got shouted at."[22]

The music video was released on 5 December 2013 and has since received more than 199 million views.[22]

Also this song was absolutely massive right around the world which is more than you can say about all the wonky voiced Soundcloud rap in this list.

Violins are all over actual disco music and they make sense here IMO.

Matt DC, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:05 (eleven years ago)

The drop-off to their other singles is precipitous.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:06 (eleven years ago)

God the album was absolute dogshit though, just reinforced every negative stereotype about them.

Err wasn't.

The Reverend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:09 (eleven years ago)

The song's comfiness is part of its whole appeal anyway, I mean "when I am with you there's no place I'd rather be".

Matt DC, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:10 (eleven years ago)

the classixx song is better than this, but they're both good!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:10 (eleven years ago)

Well it's not as if top 40 radio in the US plays massively popular rap songs either, but you know what? FUCK TOP 40.

The Reverend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:13 (eleven years ago)
