This song is good, but I never knew what they looked like before now. Definitely a detriment.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:50 (eleven years ago)

My number 1. It's just such a perfectly produced song and it ruled my summer (and my autumn nd a good chunk of my winter). Love the way the initial violin vamp gets passed on from instrument to instrument as the song goes on. Love 'we never hesitate/kyoto to du-bay'. Love the 'DUN-DUN' piano just before the chorus. Love it all.

I liked this when it came out a year ago but it has had serious diminishing returns.

the QT conundrum (Moka), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:50 (eleven years ago)

The photo choices have been excellent.

also some fun clicky clacks

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:51 (eleven years ago)

Did not get the hype for this the first time I heard it but after hearing out a fair bit throughout the year it crept up on me and has become one of my favourite songs of the year. Still really surprised just how big it was in the UK. It's already one of the 50 best selling singles ever there.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:51 (eleven years ago)

Still love this, they can priss around all they want in the verses because that's just one hell of a killer chorus. Deserved to be the massive hit it was.

Matt DC, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:51 (eleven years ago)

This song is alright, but I got a bit tired of that period where ads for it would keep popping up on my YouTube.

MarkoP, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:53 (eleven years ago)

i love the lyrics, it's just a very happy song. i realized it was one of my songs of the year when i was out drunk and got so happy to hear a remix of it playing that i cried a little.

dyl, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:53 (eleven years ago)

i have no interest in clean bandit otherwise

dyl, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:53 (eleven years ago)

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:53 (eleven years ago)

MarkoP, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:54 (eleven years ago)

good song for midtier "fashion" clothing chains.

not necessarily a diss i guess.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:54 (eleven years ago)

biggest gulf in quality between the first half and second half of a chorus in any song this year. but god the first half is just the hugest thing, it was impossible not to cave to it.

prolego, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:54 (eleven years ago)

OK the guy on the right with the Astrotruf violin no longer cute

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:54 (eleven years ago)

heavy piano and the chorus is hard to dislike but those beth ortony type vocals drive me up a fucking wall, and whole vibe of this thing is too youtube for me

goole, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:54 (eleven years ago)

the shift in the beat when glynne sings "IF you gave me a chance i would take it" just has this v endearing sweetness and urgency

The other TSwidz misheard lyric that always foxes me is in 'Style', always hear it was "And I got that Brad Pitt / Classic / Thing that you like", then I imagine her slightly aging but ruggedly handsome with a goatee.

skip, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

good song for midtier "fashion" clothing chains.

word.

The Reverend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

this "Rather Be" song is perfectly inoffensive but I cannot comprehend it's supposed magnitude

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:59 (eleven years ago)

Vermillion is fantastic. Can't thank the Singles Jukebox enough for the discovery.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:00 (eleven years ago)

first time I heard "Rather Be" out and about was at the market veg stall, good tune for picking out broccoli to

seandalai, Thursday, 22 January 2015 19:00 (eleven years ago)

this song is great

the aesthetics are all wrong (violins and general theatre kid vibe) but the core is a really emotional house song, so i'm down
