yeah Vemillion, which is better than I'd remembered, is clearly a testament to TSJ's influence on ILM

if blank space places this high i assume style (which was my only tswift vote) places in the top 3

i'm tellin you it was kenard (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:23 (eleven years ago)

i have no idea how anyone misheard the line as "starbucks lovers" which wouldn't even have made grammatical sense

one of my initial favourites off the swift album that's fallen slightly in my estimation since but which is still a very excellent pop song

lex pretend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:23 (eleven years ago)

i thought this was a bad song and one of her worst singles for a bit but the songwriting is pretty incredible

still wish it had a "sound" ... i don't really understand what it's supposed to be, but that's a small potatoes critique

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:24 (eleven years ago)

How is this better than Shake It Off? IDGI and I doubt I'll ever get Taylor Swift.

quinoa: how's it spelt? (dog latin), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:24 (eleven years ago)

to my Afro-Cuban ears attuned to coffee 'n' cigarettes it sounds like Starbucks lovers

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:24 (eleven years ago)

how many P4K: DNPs have there been and what's the highest placed P4K track so far?

german whip, that's not me, & hot n*gga... today was a good day

lol it just sounds like that if you listen to it a certain way, "song lyric that doesn't make grammatical sense" cmon man

call all destroyer, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

lol CAD i read your post as "there are one thousand nine hundred and eighty nine songs i like better than this, but this one is cool"

gr8080, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

voted vermillion
beautiful song that grew on me with with every listen

nxd, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

I owe my discovery of (and votes for) Vermillion and Quarterback to The Singles Jukebox. Normally it's so kvetchy that the few times they get above 8.0 I know it's going to be great.

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

Relieved this isn't #1.

The Reverend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

thought i did anyhow haha

nxd, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:25 (eleven years ago)

I totally heard it as "Starbucks lovers," but I wasn't really paying enough attention to what she said before that to determine whether it made sense. I guess some people hear it as "all the lonely Starbucks lovers": http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2014/11/why-you-keep-mishearing-that-taylor-swift-lyric.html

"style" for instance is at least a "sound" even if it's just a total pastiche, i'm glad it's the next single

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:27 (eleven years ago)

"Tuesday" was #2 on Pitchfork xxxp

seandalai, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:27 (eleven years ago)

this is a great song that's let down by its production. the static in the background bugs me to no end.

prolego, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:27 (eleven years ago)

"All lovely Starbucks lovers, they tell you I'm insane"

I thought it was audacious product placement for sure

The Reverend, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:28 (eleven years ago)

call all destroyer, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:28 (eleven years ago)

Blank Space was not one of the initial favorites on the album but grew on me and has been such a welcome single and hit - part of it is starting to pay attention to and anticipate the lyrics.

abcfsk, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:28 (eleven years ago)

I also totally hear it as "Starbucks Lovers" and so have a lot of my friends.

This is the song that singlehandedly got me ~into~ Taylor Swift.

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:28 (eleven years ago)

and the video oh my god how many times have I watched it?

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:29 (eleven years ago)

at least 1,989 times.

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:29 (eleven years ago)

mignight you pick me up no head lice >>>>>>

prolego, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:29 (eleven years ago)

i really don't understand how "blank space" has become the taylor swift song for people who never liked or cared about taylor swift

is it just the momentum of her career or is it something specific about it in particular

J0rdan S., Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:30 (eleven years ago)

your neck was hanging round my neck >>>>>>>

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:30 (eleven years ago)

dyl, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:30 (eleven years ago)

i first heard it as "lotta lonely starbucks lovers"

dyl, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:30 (eleven years ago)

rubbish song and it definitely sounds like starbucks lovers

Cosmic Slop, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:31 (eleven years ago)

Would literally not put it past her to have totally done that on purpose and got muthafukken paid for it tbh.

All The Craigers Gonna Craig Craig Craig Craig Craig (Craigo Boingo), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:31 (eleven years ago)

AND
YOU
LOVE
THE. GAME.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:31 (eleven years ago)

sang this on the intercampus shuttle last month with punctuating hand gestures, guy in front of me thought I was a pedo

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

always heard "gotta love these starbucks lovers"

Indexed, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

my favorite thing about this song is the pen sound

just the song, I'd think. Her music's always been just fine to me but nothing that really engaged me all that much; idk what it is about this song but it just really snagged me.

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

Blank Space has grown on me hugely thanks to my daughters' obsession with it. To them Shake It Off is like Happy, it's fun, it's fine, but Blank Space is like Let It Go - they hang on every word, relish every syllable. After a zillion listens I love the pacing, the delivery, the humour, the rock-solid craft of it.

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

what is the pen sound?

also omg the reverb on "AND YOU LOVE THE GAME" is so wonderful

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:33 (eleven years ago)

The click?

All The Craigers Gonna Craig Craig Craig Craig Craig (Craigo Boingo), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

And what are their thoughts on "Style"?

MarkoP, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

what is the pen sound?

i gotta blank space baby *shk* and i'll write your name

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

is THAT what it is

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

I heard star crossed lovers?

Mordy, Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

xp They say Style's OK but its no Out of the Woods.

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Thursday, 22 January 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

I wanna see 'Style' performed on an Italian Saturday night TV show in the early 80s with way too much dry ice
