No Type is my maybe 5th to place. I like how both RS singles are kind of mild disses against trad notions of masculinity. Obv I am assuming (prob wrongly) is against macho weightlifting (actually binh tells me it's more about just showing off, which still works) whereas No Type feels kind of a rejection of that gross byproduct of heteromale privilege, the Type. xp "Hideaway" has been a mainstay on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown for months and months. That's how I end up hearing a lot of mainstream pop I wouldn't normally come across. She's pretty good, but is it really a good idea to bring back acid-wash high-waisted jeans??? They make anyone who's not a 6'+ model look ridiculous.

Perhaps. I never heard "Hideaway" on pop radio. Certainly nowhere else in the wild. Wouldn't have known about it if not for ILM/Singles Jukebox, probably.

Would have placed Down on My Luck fairly high, since I voted for it a number of other polls, but somehow I forgot to vote for it.

For someone who listened to 200+ new releases this year, and countless more singles, today has been a reminder why I visit ILM. I hadn't even heard of 5 of the 11 tracks so far. Not that into most of this stuff, but still very refreshing.

99% of my music listening in 2014 was on Spotify, and if a song wasn't on Spotify, I didn't really bother to seek it out. Occasionally, though, I'd look something up if I'd heard good things about it and was curious. "Down on My Luck" is probably my favorite song not on Spotify that I discovered in 2014.
