Its not so good, i slept badly because of it and i have a headache too now and there was supposed to be a phone interview 45 minutes ago and the person hasnt called. Im not sure today is going to be good for me, i should be listening to more cordial music, or even better, silence

I'm in silence now because listening to vibey music I will forget everything i know as i return to my natural woodland state. not good for interview. but its the wrong kind of silence, its not the silence of tranquility and leaves

maybe one year we can all vote for a moment of restful silence and quiet contemplation instead of say, fruitless islands or tailors whiffed

Some of Superpitcher's best stuff has that sort of cold, strung-out blankness to it - thinking about tracks like 'Tomorrow' rather than the poppier or more peak time material.

Quick takes on yesterday:

Glad to see 'Quarterback' and 'Try Me' place - both good songs which didn't quite make my ballot.

Both Jessie Ware tracks sound much better than they did when I gave the album a listen, I should give it another try, I loved Devotion but the new one just washed over me.

Not a fan of any of the Young Thug tracks but I do like 'About the Money', don't know whether that's more down to the presence of T.I. or the production.

I feel this year there's way more stuff I've never even heard of than usual. Also more hip-hop I guess, probably correlated.

Production on About the Money is lush

Try this: imagine the chorus as "Do you eat the booty" and see if it doesn't change the song permanently for you

I like the bit at the beginning of the Guru track where he intones 'Beautiful pooley'. I've no idea what 'pooley' means but I'm getting it conflated with the French word for 'chicken'. So yeah, this is an ode to a beautiful chicken until I know better.

imago I hate to use a cliché but it bangs. How many tracks out this year banged this hard? It's just super fun. As a big party tune it manages, for me, to do the whole hip-hop/dance hybrid a lot more satisfyingly than any of the Ibiza/EDM influenced songs that have come out in recent years. And what's wrong with a dumb slogan anyway? It raises its rhetorical question and never answers it.

it's huge and gaudy and shiny and pointless yet so joyous and beautiful and perfect and monumental

For some reason I thought this was a 2013 song. I dunno. Maybe just b/c I've heard it a bunch before and I'm usually about 12 months late on this sort of thing. Anyway, it's got good lines/beats popping up throughout, but fails to move me much as a whole. Also I tabbed over to the video for a second and it was horrible, so that's off-putting.
