Oddly enough I don't hate the Taylor Swift singles this year as much as the ones from previous years but I still don't get all the love for her thing. From a very far distance this sounds influenced by Kate Bush.

the QT conundrum (Moka), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 20:57 (eleven years ago)

i like this song but i am now very worried that taylor will be #1

dyl, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 20:58 (eleven years ago)

Out of the Woods is fantastic!

a pleasant little psychedelic detour in the elevator (Amory Blaine), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 20:58 (eleven years ago)

(Sleeve, I was listening to Grooveshark.)

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 20:58 (eleven years ago)

How'd ya figure that? Prob too many songs to vote for: votes will be spread, so no no.1 I think. Think Two Weeks will be #1

a pleasant little psychedelic detour in the elevator (Amory Blaine), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 20:59 (eleven years ago)

kinda hope neither "two weeks" nor "blank space" is no. 1 but i'm not sure what a reasonable substitute would be

all time classic vine

lag∞n, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:00 (eleven years ago)

this grooveshark site is horrible, offensive to have to use something like that, who would use a site like that

but on the other hand I have a lot of time for the fact she took her music off spotify, its hers to do whatever she likes with and she doenst owe anyone an explanation. she sounds uncomfortable singing this, maybe because of the horrible drums. rest of it was reasonably bland, i'll take that at this stage

saer, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:01 (eleven years ago)

oh i guess i have to relinquish all hope that "drunk on a plane" will place lol

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:01 (eleven years ago)

It took me ages to warm to 'Out Of The Woods', the production and style felt too Haim-y to me but I got over that. Some of the best dramatic lyrics on the whole record.

All The Craigers Gonna Craig Craig Craig Craig Craig (Craigo Boingo), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:01 (eleven years ago)

Yay. My first song to place.

Guessing there'll be no Tove Lo in the 77 though

groovypanda, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:02 (eleven years ago)

just had the thought "a reasonable no. 1 would be 'no type'"

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:02 (eleven years ago)

I really like Speak Now so am still adjusting to nu-TS. This song actually does make me think of the year 1989, though.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:04 (eleven years ago)

The chorus with the doubled vocals and the minimoog, the bombastic drums throughout. The more I listen to it the more it sounds a lot like something off of Hounds of Love. Tell me I'm not going crazy.

the QT conundrum (Moka), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:04 (eleven years ago)

She could've totally sped this up and fucked with it a bit and turned it into 'Holding Out For A Hero'

All The Craigers Gonna Craig Craig Craig Craig Craig (Craigo Boingo), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

I really have no idea what #1 will be.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:06 (eleven years ago)

I especially like the man backing vocals when the music drops out, that's nice

All The Craigers Gonna Craig Craig Craig Craig Craig (Craigo Boingo), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:07 (eleven years ago)

"2 On" is the song that ILM would've been cool enough to make #1 a few years ago but probably isn't anymore imo

EVERY HUGH JACKMAN HAS A VAN HELSING (some dude), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:07 (eleven years ago)

#1 obvs "blank space" i think

Mordy, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:07 (eleven years ago)

voted out of the woods
altho when i sing it in my head it turns into you don't win friends with salad

the QT conundrum (Moka), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:09 (eleven years ago)

Well with all the Young Thug showing up, I'm half expecting Lifestyle to be #1.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:10 (eleven years ago)

See, I listened to the first half of 1989 on my way home tonight and nothing on there came close to Shake It Off. I just found it a bit boring. I guess she's just not for me.

quinoa: how's it spelt? (dog latin), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:11 (eleven years ago)

This is ok but the Kleerup and Kate Boy tracks that won't place were in a similar vein and better imo.

ewar woowar (or something), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:12 (eleven years ago)

i do that upward finger twist gesture when i listen to music on like a constant basis

goole, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:13 (eleven years ago)

owen pallett is a pop vocalist you absolute clown

― telling like hot takes (imago), Wednesday, January 21, 2015 3:35 PM (2 minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

i was responding to rev. i wouldn't have started with the 'classical' v.s. 'pop' dichotomy ('classical' vocals suggests, like, opera to me) but i just meant they could be juicier, always come off a bit austere to me. i like a lot of the production and arrangements, though.

re: this "absolute clown" dig, i realize this is probably due to a jab i made earlier itt about QT (still think it is hilarious that you get a concept art boner to the musical equivalent of normcore) but coming from someone who takes themselves so seriously i welcome it

flopson, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:16 (eleven years ago)

i would take the blank space tbr

languagelessness (mattresslessness), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:16 (eleven years ago)

i'll write your name

flopson, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:17 (eleven years ago)

Thug's presence on the list is totally appropriate and proportional to his impact on rap in 2014, i will say. hasn't been anybody with that many hits before they had a major label album out since Nicki.

im livin too wild

flopson, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:21 (eleven years ago)

Oh shit! At this point I figured "Danny Glover" wasn't going to place.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:22 (eleven years ago)

WHO THE FUCK TOLD YOU THAT YOUNG THUGGER THUGGER DON'T FUCK UP THE BEAT??

The Reverend, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:25 (eleven years ago)

"out of the woods" is so emotional that i don't listen to it that often but i'll always remember it for being the first indicator that 1989 was gonna be great

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:25 (eleven years ago)

haha flopson you wasteman I had nothing in mind w/ 'absolute clown' but an instant & seething reaction to your dismissal of op's vox, u value my memory too highly, it's cute

telling like hot takes (imago), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:26 (eleven years ago)

fyi forks this is on spotify as "2 bitches"

gr8080, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:26 (eleven years ago)

i like "stoner" more than "danny glover" and a bunch of other young thug songs more than both but the chorus is really perfect

also i love how the beat references snap without being overt about it

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:26 (eleven years ago)

considerable improvement on his other appearances, still spoiled by autotune though

saer, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:27 (eleven years ago)

It's also on there under Young T.H.U.G.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:27 (eleven years ago)

there's also a fake "yung thug - danny glover" on there

gr8080, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:28 (eleven years ago)

is a song from tha tour gonna place or is there no consensus on which one
