J0rdan S., Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

i enjoy the war on drugs because i like to smoke weed

there's no combination of words that couldn't replace "the war on drugs" in that sentence

Gombeen Dance Band (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

To be fair to saer, it does feel as though this year's poll is a lot more 'consistent', if not predictable, than previous years. Great if you're into pop but usually there are a few more outliers and hidden gems by this point and I can't see the rest of the poll diverging from that. Where's the house music? Where's the token metal track? Why are the only two indie tracks to place so unremarkably MOR?

the sax on monument is so mournful

||||||||, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

"try me" was my #2 song of the year

maybe the best rapping of any 2014 single packaged in this weird little flow and a fluffy cotton candy beat

the song makes a lot of sense but also very little sense

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:35 (eleven years ago)

ha this is gonna sound like i'm aping saer but true story i was walking home in a misty rain last nite and a sports car slowed down to roll over a speed bump right next to me and i could hear a few seconds of "try me" bumping from inside its closed windows, i cracked a grin as it hit the gas and sped away

gr8080, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:36 (eleven years ago)

feel so blessed that 'try me' didn't need a drake verse to become a hit

I enjoy The War on Drugs because it makes for good winter highway driving music.

Xpost it's a self-fulfilling prophecy though. Tracks poll has always been pop oriented but it's not necessarily meant to be.

quinoa: how's it spelt? (dog latin), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:39 (eleven years ago)

Where's the token metal track?

there wasn't a metal track/album to really rally around this year a la "dream house"

k-pop prob gonna be entirely invisible too

I enjoy The War on Drugs because it makes for good winter highway driving music.

The moment The War on Drugs finally worked for me was when I was walking around outside in really cold weather. It's definitely a winter album.

i dunno even if some of the dumb weird rock bands or folk drone weirdo guitar players i like would have any chance of placing the massive shitfit it would incur doesn't really seem worth it ya know?

I'd love to hear all those UMS. I still think the soloing of genres into rolling threads is one of the most disappointing things to happen to ilm.
