lol i am still amused that ppl pretend the drake and original versions are so vastly different or different in quality
otm, also drake does a great job on his version
― example (crüt), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:31 (eleven years ago)
you can't bemoan that a song is a downer party jam that doesn't allow people to have a good time when it functions in completely the opposite way
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:32 (eleven years ago)
get over yourselves and have a good time -> but people do have a good time to it! -> that's irrelevant is a perfect ilm exchange

To quote DJ Sprinkles: "Suffering is here inside the club with us."

i mean i understand what lex is saying of course but he's wrong in an empirical sense
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:33 (eleven years ago)
it doesn't allow ME to have a good time
i think the diff between downer party rap songs and melancholy techno/house or whatever is the ego of the former, like i'm expected to care about makonnen feeling sad
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:33 (eleven years ago)
No partying in the party fountain.
― Moka, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:34 (eleven years ago)
he doesn't feel sad though?
Working Monday night, on the corner flipping hardMade at least three thousand, on the BoulevardI've been working graveyard, shifts every other weekendAin't got no fucking time to party on the weekendI've been flipping in the house, making jugs on the highwayI've been riding out of state, making money like my wayI don't think that I should dance, I'm just gon have another drinkI'm doing my stance, you know my Molly pinkI've got the loudest of the loud, you know my gas stinkMy P.O. think I'm in the house, don't give a damn about what she think

Last time I heard "Tuesday" in a club a white girl near me very loudly protested that it was Thursday. Otoh, so glad this placed on a Tuesday.
― The Reverend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:35 (eleven years ago)
hey it's my no. 1!
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:35 (eleven years ago)
sorry everyone
the sad thing is a red herring imo, people misread "we can't stop" in the same way but i think it's non-aggressive, blithe defiance
same goes for "no type"
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:35 (eleven years ago)
rita ora didn't deserve a song this good
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:36 (eleven years ago)
being in the club is fun but sometimes it feels like you're clocking time waiting for something to happen
doing it on a tuesday, not much happening
― mh, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:36 (eleven years ago)
I don't know what this is but I can tell by the image I'm going to hate it. Does this sounds like Gwen Stefani 2.0?
― Moka, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:36 (eleven years ago)
Sometimes one of my cats starts bullying another cat so I put it on top of a bookshelf to calm it down for a bit
― puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:36 (eleven years ago)
who is rita ora is a question a lot of people have been asking this year and the answer is nobody knows
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:36 (eleven years ago)
I sing a modified version of Tuesday to it
I don't like this as much as Radioactive from a couple years ago, but since it didn't place I will gladly settle for this.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:37 (eleven years ago)
Cats going up / on the bookshelf / I put my cat on the shelf and she's.....unhappy
― puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:37 (eleven years ago)
mystified that anyone found any fucks to give about this song. it's just...there
calvin harris really is a terrible producer, like substantially worse than any other EDM pop guy

There are ppl who care about Rita Ora?
― The Reverend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:38 (eleven years ago)
I just like Rita Ora because she's a goofball.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:39 (eleven years ago)
i don't care about rita ora but i love this song idk
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:39 (eleven years ago)
the verses sound like it might be on the verge of some kind of charming carly rae jepsen thing but they never get there and the chorus is just a blarey void
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:39 (eleven years ago)
love this.
i find it v impressive how in the uk it almost feels like she's on some beyoncé level where she doesn't have to be release any actual music to be culturally omnipresent. now she's going on the voice so this will be even more the case. she truly has the greatest pr team in music right now.
― prolego, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:39 (eleven years ago)
the switch remix is also incredible but no one voted for that
the chorus is a total crj pink synth crystal palace
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:40 (eleven years ago)
pop really showing what it's capable of after qt's placement

it really shocks me that "champagne kisses" has not been made a single yet. like what are they THINKING
― lex pretend
She recently confirmed it is the next single and she's shot the video. Not sure how well it will do a lot as You and I failed to chart at all.
― Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:40 (eleven years ago)
Tim F dropping the ball massively by equating QT with Rebecca Black back there. World of difference in composition style + skill. Clearly shook ;)
Fair point, I shouldn't smear Rebacca like that.
― Tim F, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:40 (eleven years ago)
Also yay for "I Will Never Let You Down".

there's this great dissonance going on in my head with these super catchy songs playing while everyone bitches and moans.I <3 ILM.
― campreverb, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:43 (eleven years ago)
Love the Rita Ora song. It must suck that she can no longer put it on her album along with all all the other Calvin Harris songs she had after she cheated on him. Her album was supposed to be out last summer but he took all his songs back after he found out.
― Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:43 (eleven years ago)
Her first album was one of my favorites of 2012 for reasons I still don't fully understand, but I've kept the fandom alive.

this is the thing ppl complain about re: drake but the flip of it is you never really care about the sentiment of a techno track. rap has way more scope for feelings/personality than techno in general, its kinda hard to gaf about any sentiment in techno because it's always kinda vaguely melancholy broody vibe, same way if u listen to enough of it you don't hear punk music as angry it just becomes pro forma
― flopson, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 19:43 (eleven years ago)
beg to differ
