i think PC music is fine but the ultimate problem is that discussing the theory of the music is far more interesting ("interesting") than actually listening to the music itself

lex aside i don't think QT/pc music is really that divisive ... it's the faction of their audience that argues that pc music is better/more worthwhile/more moral than pop that really drives the divisiveness imo

the QT is garbage but idk about villifying its audience

"hey qt" is garbage idk

I can just about envisage a version of pc music I'd like which is basically that Wax Stag album from a few years back with old hyper Eurodance/happy hardcore style vocals glazed over it and without any of the winky knowing pop4indies shit and it's vinyl only and you can't afford it.

this is song sounds like what a sodastream would sing to a kettle it quite fancied from across an empty worktop

Never heard of QT before, but I think the tune's okay...? Though I can't for the life of me figure out why it has the chipmunk vocals and some of the other distracting gimmicks? The vocal and synth melodies are pretty catchy in themeselves, this would be a Eurodance floor-filler without the gimmicks. Is it supposed to be ironic? Why work so hard for the jam, but then at the very last moment be like, na-ah, you can't have the jam?

Must admit I'd kinda like to hear Hannah Diamond actually sing this now (if she didn't already).

to my ears pc music occupies the same space that oneohtrix point never does xp

yeah i'm not ~offended that it's mocking me or my purported taste, i just think it's a lazy and basic way to parody pop that's ultimately pretty pointless and way less interesting than the ways in which pop already parodies and satirises and comments on itself. and it doesn't sound strange, just garish, though not all that much more garish than any given bottom-tier calvin harris production

Hey QT is decent but not a patch on the best GFOTY or Hannah Diamond stuff. Don't find PC Music contemptuous of pop music at all. Love their palette.

I like "Hey QT" but don't really care about whatever ethos is behind PC Music. I just find the song catchy. Can definitely see how some might find it irritating, though; my wife does.
