the idea of "hey qt" being an anti-snob pick is hilarious and could only even think to be typed on ilm

lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:43 (eleven years ago)

this reminds me of that Annie track from a few years back, which I loved.
I'm in.

campreverb, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:44 (eleven years ago)

It is also, imnsho, a total blast conceptually (not the energy drink thing but how it sounds, a sort of garish post-art-pop that bangs hard while winking)

Every countdown needs a Nyan Cat.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:45 (eleven years ago)

haha i think this is the first track i voted for to show up - very curious who was the #1 voter

Mordy, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:45 (eleven years ago)

does pc music actually have a geographical scene? do ppl actually go out anywhere to pc music club nights? or does it just exist entirely in a small internet bubble.

prolego, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:46 (eleven years ago)

it makes total sense that qt's biggest fan itt is someone who earlier refused to listen to bruno mars and jennifer lopez on principle, the principle presumably being "ewwww pop"

the concept is incredibly inane and about the 9393483490343th iteration of it

lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:46 (eleven years ago)

speaking of dance music and annie i hope "russian kiss" places even tho i couldn't find space for it on my ballot ;_;

Every countdown needs a Nyan Cat.

And nobody nominated "Theme from Too Many Cooks"

MarkoP, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:47 (eleven years ago)

garish post-art-pop that bangs hard

that describes 60%+ of the choices so far

saer, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:47 (eleven years ago)

i think PC music is fine but the ultimate problem is that discussing the theory of the music is far more interesting ("interesting") than actually listening to the music itself

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:47 (eleven years ago)

not meant as compliment

saer, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:47 (eleven years ago)

I listened to both songs and praised the j-lo you mook xps

see this (http://youtu.be/0Lni-Vbz1S0) for a hint as to what this 'scene' looks like

i had to chop it too, but if you want electronic pop from a meta-pop artist with a concept behind it that actually means something and that also bangs, "russian Kiss" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything those pc music twits could come up with

lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:48 (eleven years ago)

<3 U QT

^^^the words of a qt fan on pop music

lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:49 (eleven years ago)

i srsly cannot believe how much ire and disdain QT draws

Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:50 (eleven years ago)

ha i meant outside the boiler room.

(wouldn't be surprised if the ppl enjoying that intersect with the same ppl who got pissed when grimes dropped tswift and mariah in her set).

prolego, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:50 (eleven years ago)

i think popsters think QT is mocking them for liking pop music

Mordy, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:51 (eleven years ago)

I voted for Russian Kiss but can't see it placing.

lex aside i don't think QT/pc music is really that divisive ... it's the faction of their audience that argues that pc music is better/more worthwhile/more moral than pop that really drives the divisiveness imo

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

the QT is garbage but idk about villifying its audience

saer, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:54 (eleven years ago)

what is pc music im so lost

ciderpress, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:54 (eleven years ago)

its things which sound like that qt record i think theyre all made by the same person maybe

saer, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:55 (eleven years ago)

I don't think it is better than pop. I just really like it ffs. Is it indie, though?

telling like hot takes (imago), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:55 (eleven years ago)

I don't care about QT's meta-pop stuff but they are the actual most sonically annoying thing in this poll, even include Tune-Yards.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:55 (eleven years ago)

The Reverend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:55 (eleven years ago)

So some people think it's trolling and enjoy that and others think it's a troll and get irritated? What a bizarre little 2014 subculture. I heard QT a couple times and it inspired zero feelings in either direction.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:56 (eleven years ago)

A load of ppl called PC Music 'contemptuous' of pop, tbf, which is still utterly ridiculous

"hey qt" is garbage idk

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:58 (eleven years ago)

I can just about envisage a version of pc music I'd like which is basically that Wax Stag album from a few years back with old hyper Eurodance/happy hardcore style vocals glazed over it and without any of the winky knowing pop4indies shit and it's vinyl only and you can't afford it.

nashwan, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:58 (eleven years ago)

this is song sounds like what a sodastream would sing to a kettle it quite fancied from across an empty worktop

Ottbot jr (NickB), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:59 (eleven years ago)

i can't listen to "hey qt"

example (crüt), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:59 (eleven years ago)

why are the only people who like "hey qt" etc. the same people who h8 the music 'qt' is trying and failing to comment on tho

dyl, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:59 (eleven years ago)

Never heard of QT before, but I think the tune's okay...? Though I can't for the life of me figure out why it has the chipmunk vocals and some of the other distracting gimmicks? The vocal and synth melodies are pretty catchy in themeselves, this would be a Eurodance floor-filler without the gimmicks. Is it supposed to be ironic? Why work so hard for the jam, but then at the very last moment be like, na-ah, you can't have the jam?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:00 (eleven years ago)

ode to imaginary kool aid

doesn't sound as exceptional as all the argument wld lead you to believe

Must admit I'd kinda like to hear Hannah Diamond actually sing this now (if she didn't already).

nashwan, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:01 (eleven years ago)

Only heard QT once and it was what it was. Not sure why it solicits so much reaction from either side. The fact it does though, makes me want to like it more.
so what is the background to the argument here?

quinoa: how's it spelt? (dog latin), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 18:02 (eleven years ago)

I think there is a version of this somewhere with the vocals slowed to a normal pitch. It doesn't sound much different
