xp yeah people trashing the results is a time-honored tradition in these threads, i'm all for it as long as it's all targeted at the music and not at fellow posters

ciderpress, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:15 (eleven years ago)

Surprises are done, Johnny. The more voters we have the more bland consensus wins.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:16 (eleven years ago)

maybe the results shld count down from 77 to 153 instead

lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:17 (eleven years ago)

no, you're right. my beef is with people who dedicate their contribution strictly to being negative.

wow - supe rmaga xposts

AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:17 (eleven years ago)

being negative is extremely tight imo

lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:18 (eleven years ago)

my beef is with people who dedicate their contribution strictly to being negative.

its not intentional i just havent liked anything yet:(

saer, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:19 (eleven years ago)

eager to see if saer will like anything on the countdown lol

dyl, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:20 (eleven years ago)

crossing my fingers for "no"

mh, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:20 (eleven years ago)

Alvvays track is exactly the kind of music I would never seek out or discover on my own anymore and generally don't like and didn't think I'd like either, but I do. Good job ilx I guess.

abcfsk, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:20 (eleven years ago)

8 songs so far i hadn't heard before. 4 of them i'd have been happy never to hear, 3 were excellent discoveries

lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:20 (eleven years ago)

which 3 did u like

lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:21 (eleven years ago)

thus far i'm bowing down to ILX hivemind for J.Lo

RAP GAME SHANI DAVIS (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:22 (eleven years ago)

Migos/Alvvays segue is A+ ILX polling. I love the chaos down in the lower 27.

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:26 (eleven years ago)

i'm wondering what all the people voting for Alvvays thought of Beverly? i discovered them both at the same time and could not tell them apart... both albums are just as solid, imho, with Beverly sounding maybe a little more like the Pixies. (i'm asking now because i don't expect Beverly to place)

AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:27 (eleven years ago)

I think Honey Do is the best song by either band, but I think the Alvvays album is probably a little more solid.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:28 (eleven years ago)

So far Ninos du Brasil is easily my favorite discovery. Speaking of which, this countdown needs more dance music, although I feel bad I didn't vote for any except "Turn Down For What" lol. I didn't really pay as close attention to dance stuff as usual and was hoping this poll would fill me in a bit.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:28 (eleven years ago)

Alvvays reminds me of those shitty generic Slumberland bands I'd play on my campus radio show near the end when I was getting bored and had to play something off the playlist to fulfill the playlist requirements and there was absolutely either generic Slumberland or like, generic-er dude indie

Tay-Tay Brooklynpants (Murgatroid), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:28 (eleven years ago)

xpost Honey Do was one of my favourite discoveries from going through the Spotify playlist. I voted for it. Haven't heard the album yet.

Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:29 (eleven years ago)

which 3 did u like

ninos du brasil, ana tijoux, shakira

tune-yards, röyksopp & robyn, alvvays, spoon confirmed i'm right to avoid these acts

katie gately - was interested to hear but i wouldn't say i'm into her now or anything

everything else i'd heard, albeit some i'd forgotten

lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:30 (eleven years ago)

Slumberland were terrible for a long stretch when I was on their physical promo list, it got to where I just knew whatever it was would probably be awful.

wondering whether any deep tech will place...that was almost all the dance music i voted for

lex pretend, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:31 (eleven years ago)

tbh the only wtf moment for me has been the Spoon song, but so far I've loved this rollout more than the last two.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:31 (eleven years ago)

I voted for "Archie, Marry Me" but didn't like the album very much. Never heard of Beverly. Listening to "Honey Do" now and it's okay? I don't know why "Archie, Marry Me" clicked with me, but I've been happily listening to it since I first heard it in April.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:33 (eleven years ago)

so, i am giving Nicki Manaj an earnest listen for, really, the first time in my life (i mean i've heard her before - but never really *listened*) and this seriously has to be some of the worst garbage I have ever battled my way through.

and i really dislike it when people are super negative on these threads, showing up just to bash stuff etc – but I just cannot fathom how any adult can endorse something like Minaj.

now that that is off my chest... the Migos/Young Thug track is great. wish i had heard it earlier so I could have voted for it!

shld prob save this discussion for the albums thread but fyi Beverly is the same primary musicians as the Frankie Rose album that placed a few years ago, but in Beverly, Frankie takes a back seat to Drew Citron

I don't see how anyone on either side of the argument can't work up strong feelings about this song AT ALL.

indie snob cadre loves this hot garbage lol

dyl, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:40 (eleven years ago)

nowhere near as good as BIPP but it made my ballot

gr8080, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:40 (eleven years ago)

actually can't imagine a song i'll hate more in this poll

So does this still stay true, or does Hey QT overtake Uptown Funk in terms of hatred?

ciderpress, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:41 (eleven years ago)

haha, I don't even know if I like this but it's so ridiculous I'm glad someone voted it their #1

campreverb, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 17:41 (eleven years ago)

My gf reckons Hannah Diamond's credited stuff is the best PC Music but this is the only one I voted for (quite low on my ballot but still) - it stands for something important, namely pissing off ILM pop worthies
