I know it's "Formerly Known As" but in my head I always think "Fucka Twigs"

i really liked the fka twigs album in the end but baffled that anyone would choose to vote for a song by itself and that song not be "two weeks" - "pendulum" is cool but more of a piece with the rest of the album than something you'd isolate. i think if i'd heard it as a single without the album i'd probably have dismissed it

and i really dislike it when people are super negative on these threads, showing up just to bash stuff etc

I think this is the one thread where its ok to be negative! I dont normally state my opinion on things i dont like, but it feels like part of the exercise here, unless ive judged wrong?

i sort of get why people who just don't like rap would not get nicki minaj but i'm also confused by MINAJ - NO; MIGOS - YES. what does she do that's so offensively bad that they don't do...

Same here. I can't think of an album I tried harder to get into than this one in recent years.

also like a lot of fka twigs songs the best bit about "pendulum" is the melodic switch-up in the middle 8. she's very very good at those

Alvvays track is exactly the kind of music I would never seek out or discover on my own anymore and generally don't like and didn't think I'd like either, but I do. Good job ilx I guess.

8 songs so far i hadn't heard before. 4 of them i'd have been happy never to hear, 3 were excellent discoveries

Migos/Alvvays segue is A+ ILX polling. I love the chaos down in the lower 27.

i'm wondering what all the people voting for Alvvays thought of Beverly? i discovered them both at the same time and could not tell them apart... both albums are just as solid, imho, with Beverly sounding maybe a little more like the Pixies. (i'm asking now because i don't expect Beverly to place)

I think Honey Do is the best song by either band, but I think the Alvvays album is probably a little more solid.

So far Ninos du Brasil is easily my favorite discovery. Speaking of which, this countdown needs more dance music, although I feel bad I didn't vote for any except "Turn Down For What" lol. I didn't really pay as close attention to dance stuff as usual and was hoping this poll would fill me in a bit.

Alvvays reminds me of those shitty generic Slumberland bands I'd play on my campus radio show near the end when I was getting bored and had to play something off the playlist to fulfill the playlist requirements and there was absolutely either generic Slumberland or like, generic-er dude indie

xpost Honey Do was one of my favourite discoveries from going through the Spotify playlist. I voted for it. Haven't heard the album yet.

katie gately - was interested to hear but i wouldn't say i'm into her now or anything

everything else i'd heard, albeit some i'd forgotten

Slumberland were terrible for a long stretch when I was on their physical promo list, it got to where I just knew whatever it was would probably be awful.

wondering whether any deep tech will place...that was almost all the dance music i voted for

tbh the only wtf moment for me has been the Spoon song, but so far I've loved this rollout more than the last two.

I voted for "Archie, Marry Me" but didn't like the album very much. Never heard of Beverly. Listening to "Honey Do" now and it's okay? I don't know why "Archie, Marry Me" clicked with me, but I've been happily listening to it since I first heard it in April.

so, i am giving Nicki Manaj an earnest listen for, really, the first time in my life (i mean i've heard her before - but never really *listened*) and this seriously has to be some of the worst garbage I have ever battled my way through.
