"yrn" is great, i don't really get the cult of young thug but i def prefer his energetic mode to his emotional mode, though there isn't the sense of contrast that made his verse on trae's "try me" so powerful to me. slept on migos for too much of 2014 bc i assumed they were one-hit wonders, don't intend to do that in 2015

i wasn't rly into the migos track that ppl seemed to get behind this year ("fight night"), kinda liked "handsome and wealthy" better

can't believe I hadn't heard YRN till now

I love how each verse of "YRN" they start with an energetic delivery, then dial it back a bit before bringing the full energy back on the last line. That's super effective.

This was my #2 and was gonna be my #1 for large portions of this year. Young Thug dominates the track obviously but Quavo's "Y-R-N/ I'm in love with Benjamin Frank-a-lin" is my favorite line. Whoever it was on twitter who said they needed a whole album of Migos and Young Thug going off over old exotica records OTM. Speaking of which, has anybody figured out what that sample is?

Great song. Probably my favourite indie album of the year.

i recently heard this for the first time. i had already heard some other alvvays song and had basically written them off as some horrendous twee indie rock group but there's something about this song that i find rather affecting.

yeah this one is OK by me

i liked sambros, the holly herndon, and yrn--those were great discoveries.

My second song to place, I thought it was doomed.

this is a bit like Best Coast 'Boyfriend' - whatever happened to them? in the studio perhaps, recording some new songs I dare say

"fight night" is the best of them all imo though i didn't vote for it; i think migos songs work super-well in isolation but their albums and mixtapes tend to get samey

this alvvays song is terrible

i listened to some of the pazz an jop albums list and there seems to be an uptick in this kind of lofi-ish flat affect female vocals garage-y indie thing that never quite goes out of style

this one sounds like particularly 90s tho

I've not heard them yet but just... I mean, ALVVAYS?! That's up there with Test Icicles, the Dandy Warhols, Joanna Gruesome and Eagulls for all time egregiously pointless band names.

love love the whole Alvvays album, and this is the best track, or at least the most memorable.

whole alvvays album is a joy start 2 finish

it is a worse name than all of those

is it ever pronounced differently?

characterless and flat

or is it alvvays pronounced 'always'

I have yet to really listen to Alvvays, so all I really know about them is that the lead singer is the daughter of one of the members of The Rankin Family.
