so far nope, everything is a very distinct flavor

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:14 (eleven years ago)

thrilling to the chorus of "novocaine"

just thrilling

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:15 (eleven years ago)

it does a lot of things in a very small space

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:15 (eleven years ago)

closer better live up to its title

Simon H., Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:16 (eleven years ago)

incidentally SRNR had my personal highest hit:miss rato of any FOB album, which I suspect I'm alone on

Simon H., Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:18 (eleven years ago)

man, nonstop massive choruses on this record so far

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:19 (eleven years ago)

so far this is sort of like a continuation of save rock and roll but the songs are just exploding out of themselves

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:21 (eleven years ago)

"favorite record" is the false crj jam of this one

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:23 (eleven years ago)

"immortals" just started and bummed me out

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:25 (eleven years ago)

For such a blatant pop act they really are terribly represented by their singles (esp. lately)

Simon H., Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:27 (eleven years ago)

i like a lot of things it's doing but i really think it's the ugly "imorrrrhorrrr-immortahls" in the second half of the chorus that sinks it for me

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:28 (eleven years ago)

lotta stuff happening in that final track

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:30 (eleven years ago)

pretty much all of it great

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:31 (eleven years ago)

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:33 (eleven years ago)

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:33 (eleven years ago)

Simon H., Sunday, 4 January 2015 06:37 (eleven years ago)

yeah this is awesome

Mordy, Sunday, 4 January 2015 07:29 (eleven years ago)

I love "Uma Thurman" so much, off-brand "Misirlou" guitar line and coke-snorting sound and all

Tay-Tay Brooklynpants (Murgatroid), Sunday, 4 January 2015 08:31 (eleven years ago)

incidentally SRNR had my personal highest hit:miss rato of any FOB album, which I suspect I'm alone on

I agree almost 100 percent actually - last time I listened I was like "are only the odd numbered tracks good on this?"

i'm tellin you it was kenard (slothroprhymes), Sunday, 4 January 2015 14:39 (eleven years ago)

IT WAS THE FOURTH OF JULY
YOU AND I WERE
YOU AND I WERE FIRE
FIRE
FIREWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORKS
THAT WENT OFF TOO SOON

uberweiss, Sunday, 4 January 2015 15:29 (eleven years ago)

you were the song STUCK in MY HEAD
every song that i've ever loved
played again and again and again
and you can get what you want but it's never enough
and i'll spin for you like your favourite records used to

uberweiss, Sunday, 4 January 2015 15:32 (eleven years ago)

Is this CDQ

, Sunday, 4 January 2015 15:36 (eleven years ago)

on first spin "The Kids Aren't Alright" sounds like the towering standout, though I like the "Pastime Paradise"ish outro on "Twin Skeletons." definitely their most streamlined record, not sure if that's a good thng or not yet

Simon H., Sunday, 4 January 2015 16:44 (eleven years ago)

really bombastic but in a way that seems much more...confident than SRAR. like they know definitely what type of band they want to be now, which i don't necessarily think was the case with comeback FOB v 1.0 on the last record.

i'm tellin you it was kenard (slothroprhymes), Sunday, 4 January 2015 20:10 (eleven years ago)

irresistible has such swagger to it!

i'm tellin you it was kenard (slothroprhymes), Sunday, 4 January 2015 20:11 (eleven years ago)

un chill goon (some dude), Sunday, 4 January 2015 21:58 (eleven years ago)

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 4 January 2015 22:01 (eleven years ago)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNkivNlkjj8

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 5 January 2015 05:37 (eleven years ago)

the leak is kinda terrible quality which normally doesn't bother me much but i imagine this album in particular will sound fuller w/ higher quality files?

Mordy, Monday, 5 January 2015 14:21 (eleven years ago)

Too many sharks not enough blood in the waves.

how's life, Monday, 5 January 2015 22:13 (eleven years ago)

how's life, Monday, 12 January 2015 19:12 (eleven years ago)

Technically not cancer but actually worse than most.

But I came here to say "OMG Uma Thurman".

Tim F, Monday, 12 January 2015 21:37 (eleven years ago)

when will brad nelson, maura johnson and tim finney review this record? the world needs it.

Nourry, Monday, 12 January 2015 22:55 (eleven years ago)

A joint review, you mean?

Tim F, Monday, 12 January 2015 23:59 (eleven years ago)

"I'll spin for you like your favourite records used to"

Tim F, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 08:13 (eleven years ago)

oh yeah btw this is the song that "uma thurman" reminds me of [april march - "chick habit"]

...which is definitely intentional

― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, January 4, 2015 2:04 PM (1 week ago)

huh? it's just quoting the munsters theme, right?

contenderizer, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 08:34 (eleven years ago)

haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the tracks linked itt are fantastic

contenderizer, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 08:35 (eleven years ago)

the sample is the munsters theme yeah but stylistically the call-and-answer horn parts remind me of "chick habit"
