Mr Twin Sister

Yeah the first half is just gorgeous. The second half seems so unexpected after those songs but it somehow it really works as a whole album.

This LP is now my favourite this year, not a weak spot on it, glad they've stopped trying to be an indie band and embraced this strung-out 5am post-disco thing, her voice deserves it.

i found this album very pleasant to listen to and every time it has gone straight in one ear and out the other

I think that's the reason for the change but i still don't like it, it feels like they had a messy car crash with Mr Mr.

Pretty sure I overlooked this on the basis of the terrible name too.

nearly overlooked it on the basis of 1) their name 2) the previous associations i had re: their sound 3) who was writing about them

thankfully a friend whose taste i really trust recommended it to me

It took many co-signs for me to check it out.

I never actually saw anyone talking about or recommending them, just the name!

not too in to the silent-shout-style tracks on the back half of this record, but overall its def my favorite discovery from the EOY top 77 polls.

"Color Your Life" from the Twin Sister days is one of my favorite pieces of music this decade. I guess they're not giving it away free anymore but it's very much worth whatever price they're asking.

Finally picked up 'In Heaven', the Twin Sister full length, today for £1 and am quite enjoying it. Will eventually get around to Mr Twin Sister.

"In Heaven" is very nice. Haven't heard the new one. Saw them in LA the other night and they were great!

IIRC, Andrea announced a multiple sclerosis diagnosis prior to the album release in 2014.

I sometimes forget just how special their last album was. One of those discoveries that makes me really grateful I post on here. For some strange reason I barely saw any buzz about it anywhere else.

Still don't get why In the House of Yes wasn't some massive breakout hit - stunning, stunning track. Really excited for new stuff from them.

They are truly a national treasure and anything new or archival is great to have. I last saw them in Seattle in maybe 2017 and they were unreal. My completely unfounded guess it that Andrea’s MS battle limits their band functions.
