L'ho beccata in discoteca con lo sguardo da serpente: The ILM ITALO Poll (Voting Thread)

daavid, Monday, 15 December 2014 23:21 (eleven years ago)

I realise that it's years until it would happen anyway, but I want to withdraw myself from the electroclash poll, I don't think I'd be able to deliver the desirable level of finesse and sparkle. If anyone else was interested enough to take over I wouldn't mind adding up ballots if they handle images/MCing threads etc

any interest in a Sly poll? not the biggest discography but...

Οὖτις, Monday, 5 January 2015 17:28 (eleven years ago)

Its pretty big now

Mark G, Monday, 5 January 2015 17:35 (eleven years ago)

was thinking how i could prob 90% fill a 2010-14 trax ballot only using taylor swift, kanye, lana, future, drake & bey - never felt more #normcore tbh

johnny crunch, Saturday, 17 January 2015 22:14 (eleven years ago)

Looks like flopson had himself banned in February. We can put Iggy/Stooges on hold on the assumption he'll be back someday, or someone else can take that one. Or if anyone knows him IRL, tell him all is forgiven please come home.

flopson, Saturday, 17 January 2015 22:17 (eleven years ago)

Are we at No. 60? Are we still in hiatus?

pplains, Sunday, 18 January 2015 00:22 (eleven years ago)

I think the Italo poll was/is the hiatus. I believe the results for that are ready to roll, but daavid was going to hold them to keep from stepping on the toes of the 2014 EOY rollout. After the 2014 results finish, daavid can roll out Italo, then it'll be up to somebody to step up -- Elvis T, Bee OK, Mordy, crüt, somebody.

the magnetic pope has sparked (WilliamC), Sunday, 18 January 2015 00:52 (eleven years ago)

I need to bow out of maintaining the list again — I think permanently this time. I also would be happy if someone would take over the two polls I was still signed up for, Bacharach and solo Beatles. I think they're both worth doing, esp. Bacharach, but I'm not available to do them.

the magnetic pope has sparked (WilliamC), Thursday, 22 January 2015 20:43 (eleven years ago)

I'll take on Bacharach.

Don A Henley And Get Over It (C. Grisso/McCain), Thursday, 22 January 2015 20:48 (eleven years ago)

i hope everything is okay with you WilliamC!

Bee OK, Friday, 23 January 2015 02:41 (eleven years ago)

Thank you, Bee, and thank you C.Grisso.

WilliamC, Friday, 23 January 2015 16:04 (eleven years ago)

okay if we're doing solo beatles we really need to bust gabriel and collins out of genesis prison

resulting post (rogermexico.), Sunday, 25 January 2015 07:24 (eleven years ago)

I'm gonna have to postpone the Italo poll rollout until the week of Feb 9th. If anyone wants to start a new poll in the meantime, that's cool with me.

daavid, Sunday, 25 January 2015 22:31 (eleven years ago)

I think I can handle maintaining the list/poll order if no one else has already assumed the duties...?

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:28 (eleven years ago)

I'm gonna have to back out of the Coltrane poll; I'm not familiar enough with too much of his work (pre-Classic Quartet), and I'm pretty sure turnout will be in the low single digits.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:32 (eleven years ago)

I'll queue up for the next spot I guess, though I kind of wonder if we should have like a month to vote given the nature of the poll.

Hollinger Escape Plan (Leee), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:54 (eleven years ago)

duly noted

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:55 (eleven years ago)

Looking forward to epics but agree -- also maybe a nomination period??

groundless round (La Lechera), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 00:33 (eleven years ago)

I have no idea what an "epic" even is (just like I had no idea what "classic rock" is) so I'll let you guys figure it out

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 00:34 (eleven years ago)

It's it.

(What is it?)

emil.y, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 00:41 (eleven years ago)

I thought it was a song > 10 min long? I'm not sure if 10 was the magic # but length was a defining characteristic.

groundless round (La Lechera), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 00:46 (eleven years ago)

it's in your face but you can't grab it

mookieproof, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:07 (eleven years ago)

i don't want to go next or really - like i'm not feeling particularly up to running any polls atm so maybe just indefinitely postpone my slot

Mordy, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:19 (eleven years ago)

Οὖτις, thanks for taking the lead on managing the queue, it's much appreciated.

Just wanted to mention a couple of things. I'm out on the Bacharach and solo Beatles polls; C. Grisso/McCain volunteered for that one, and the other one is either up for grabs or up for deletion. And crüt got steamed, and rightly so, when another poll jumped ahead of CCR late last year, so maybe check in with him before bumping Epics up ahead of Creedence.

And with that, I officially hand you the batteries to the Pollmaster's Taser.

it takes 14 to make a baby (WilliamC), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:34 (eleven years ago)

I thought it was a song > 10 min long? I'm not sure if 10 was the magic # but length was a defining characteristic.

Yes, I'm still debating with myself what that number is though. First instinct is 20, but then that'd leave out my favorite 18-minute songs.

Hollinger Escape Plan (Leee), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:37 (eleven years ago)

Gonna vote this one up pretty high.

pplains, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:37 (eleven years ago)

Οὖτις: You lost Yo La Tengo up near the top of the list. It was pending, but I needed to delay until school lets out; I think we left it where mookieproof and van horn street were going to run the poll, and I was going to do images.

clemenza, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:50 (eleven years ago)

Yo La Tengo/Dump (and other side projects), preferably.

clemenza, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:51 (eleven years ago)

leee will determine it based on his fave bardo pond songs

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:53 (eleven years ago)

Not far from the truth.

Hollinger Escape Plan (Leee), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 01:56 (eleven years ago)

yes, thanks Shakey for taking this back over, i really didn't want to do it again. it hard to do without mod access.

that being said and since i have done this before, you missed a few (really think you should keep the number order:

56. Spaceman 3 (& descendants) - Elvis Telecom
58. Yo La Tengo/Dump - clemenza
60. The Boo Radleys - Bee OK

Bee OK, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 02:52 (eleven years ago)

so Boo Radleys are next?

or is P-Funk next?

― Οὖτις, Friday, October 24, 2014 1:25 PM (3 months ago)

i can't do The Boo Radleys right now because of work. so i think that will be coming around February of 2015 after we do all the end of the year stuff.

― Bee OK, Wednesday, October 15, 2014 8:17 PM

btw, The Boo Radleys poll is still on track for February of 2015, going to be fun. won't be the first one, maybe the second or third one that will happen after the EOY polls wrap up.

― Bee OK, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 10:35 PM (2 weeks ago)

Bee OK, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 02:53 (eleven years ago)

oh, there is also this: 61. Stooges/Iggy Pop - flopson got bumped to 126 because he was not on ILX for a few months but now:

Looks like flopson had himself banned in February. We can put Iggy/Stooges on hold on the assumption he'll be back someday, or someone else can take that one. Or if anyone knows him IRL, tell him all is forgiven please come home.

61. P-Funk - Οὖτις
61. Stooges/Iggy Pop - flopson

Bee OK, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 03:44 (eleven years ago)

did the discussion regarding a 2000-2014 tracks/albums poll this summer ever move from the EOY 77 tracks thread to this one?

gr8080, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 03:54 (eleven years ago)

20 minutes is too long for epics - I propose 8:30 minutes so that I can vote for 'November Rain'.

ArchCarrier, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 12:55 (eleven years ago)

How about 8+?

how's life, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 13:00 (eleven years ago)

so we're not going in the order already established?

example (crüt), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 13:01 (eleven years ago)

I guess this is kind of a hectic time for me, so if leee wants to go before me I'm down.
