^^In the liner notes to the album there's a dedication to Kubrick, so yeah.

Steppenwolf "At Your Birthday Party." 1969, and making it in here solely on the strength of the quotation marks.

Man that band always looks like the biggest bunch of thugs

The song wasn't called "Born To Be Mild" (which would have been a great Rupert Holmes title born to this thread).

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 12 December 2014 02:55 (eleven years ago)

surely they have a limerick-inspired album?

mookieproof, Friday, 12 December 2014 02:57 (eleven years ago)

Excellent.

Root It Oot (Tom D.), Friday, 12 December 2014 09:49 (eleven years ago)

... produced by Cliff Richard!

Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 December 2014 18:20 (eleven years ago)

i think that one tipped the scale for me, I really do want to buy every record in the thread and wallpaper a building with them.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 December 2014 18:21 (eleven years ago)

I've got my own building to build

Dokken played here for a Ribfest and people were total assholes (Sparkle Motion), Friday, 12 December 2014 18:29 (eleven years ago)

Oh, so there's a copy of I've Got My Own Album To Do at my local alleyway shop, with a very flattering employee-pick sticker on it. The tracklist is pretty promising too. I think it was around eight bucks or I woulda just snapped it up. Is this actually a good album y/n?

Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 December 2014 18:42 (eleven years ago)

"Special thanks from the band to Cliff Richard"

Master of Treacle, Friday, 12 December 2014 20:39 (eleven years ago)

Great lineup of titles there too. "We Sure Do," "Not Afraid to Rock 'n' Roll"...

Doctor Casino, Friday, 12 December 2014 20:55 (eleven years ago)

The connection to Cliff Richard is that this Garth Hewitt guy was a sort of Christian rocker, though the thing is really messing with my head is that Bryn Haworth plays on the album too and I thought HE was Garth Hewitt (and vice versa).

Root It Oot (Tom D.), Friday, 12 December 2014 20:58 (eleven years ago)

Oh, hold on, it gets worse, I just checked Bryn Haworth on wiki and he's a Christian too.

Root It Oot (Tom D.), Friday, 12 December 2014 21:01 (eleven years ago)

I came across this one yesterday and thought of this thread.

Yeah this seems rubbish when the Chameleons do it imo

better the 70s stalwart.

Master of Treacle, Tuesday, 16 December 2014 11:01 (eleven years ago)

that wasn't the chameleons first offence either...

I have consciously avoided ever hearing that band because of their album titles.

Root It Oot (Tom D.), Tuesday, 16 December 2014 11:19 (eleven years ago)

I'm more likely to listen to a Cardiacs album tbh.

None of these seem egregiously of this thread, but given how superfluous a Phil Everly solo career already seems to me, they're kinda tickling me.

These are terrible enough to rate inclusion. I certainly almost choked on my lunch.

feel like there should be a top ten groan-worthy titles. That one and the Caravan would make my list.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/74/Acquiring_the_Taste_front_cover.jpg

Of course, 'Acquiring the Taste' is not in and of itself an outright horrible title, but when coupled a cover depicting the thinnest of thinly veiled allusions to salad tossing it adds up to a true prog grossout as only could have been produced in the 70s.

Dokken played here for a Ribfest and people were total assholes (Sparkle Motion), Sunday, 21 December 2014 23:48 (eleven years ago)

Prog, why you so nasty?

ok that is super grossout

refuse to believe that is caravan's 1st appearance here

tl;dr, gukbar, morbis detrius (wins), Monday, 22 December 2014 00:39 (eleven years ago)

I put the prog titles in a whole different group from most of what we've seen in this thread.

ancient texts, things that can't be pre-dated (President Keyes), Monday, 22 December 2014 01:27 (eleven years ago)

The album cover has some innuendo in that it is made to look like a tongue licking an anus. However, when opened completely, it is actually a tongue licking a peach.

so many of these titles are just things your parents say

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Monday, 22 December 2014 01:46 (eleven years ago)

Gentle Giant's album concepts improved remarkably when they moved on from peach licking to extremely mundane stuff like "whatever happened to our buddies in school?" and "what if we did a whole album about interviews?" Plus the great Watergate record & the failed relationships record.

x-post --- I was trying and failing to post a pic of Stiller & Meara's comedy album with the title "Laugh When You Want." Are they saying we can play this "comedy album" anytime we want? An adventure like this is unheard of in the 20th century.

Vic Perry, Monday, 22 December 2014 01:49 (eleven years ago)
