this LL track is objectively good but he HAS to understand how hard it's gonna be for a lot of people to take it seriously, especially among the snark generation

i dunno, i think of him as a total has-been joke but once i clicked play i was sold. but i'm in my late 30s, maybe this is your point.

don't get me wrong, it's honestly kind of great. i'm 27 and had to go digging to find the stuff that LL made his bones with; I didn't hear it at the time of release or even that soon after. but folks my age and around it salivate over the possibility of mockery (not that that's news to anyone)

i mean hell, as far as tracks by assumed-to-be-washed-and/or-in-different-careers rappers go, this is light-years ahead of the singles dre released in 2011/12. which might sound like damning with faint praise bc those were terrible. this is legit.

Thanks Lex. Spottie, I liked some of the Future and Schoolboy Q records released earlier this year, but haven't really gone back to them more than once or twice. Last year I liked Kanye, Drake, A$AP, and Kevin Gates.

yeah i'd have recommended schoolboy q and sage the gemini on a level below, they're worth hearing but i didn't go back to them too much after a couple of weeks
