"I've got a feeling that marijuana's rotting your brain" becoming "I've got a feeling that my friends are gonna kick in your brain") but coming after "Talk", "Heart Out", "Settle Down" and "Girls" it feels a bit like a superfluous and less distinct amalgam of all four.

Agreed that it worked very well live. When I saw the them the weakest song was "Settle Down", surprisingly.

I like that Maura and brad Nelson are into this band

after all this time, "Girls" is starting to get played on US pop radio

yeah i'm surprised it ended being this instead of "chocolate" that managed to get some decent pop radio play but i ain't complaining, it's a nice enough tune

well, "Chocolate" got to #25 on the Pop Songs chart, "Girls" is only at #32 right now but it's still rising. i kinda wonder if the success of 5 Seconds Of Summer in America is leading the industry to give The 1975 another push.

1 of those nights where a 1975 song comes on shuffle and i then listen to everything they've ever released for hours on end when i should be going to bed. i swear none of these songs on any of the eps or the lp are anything less than flawless and crucial to my life

Healy texted me the other day to say that you can get large chunks of the 1975's sound by listening to Hats by the Blue Nile. So I did. And he's right. The 1975 album is the chart version of Hats.

these guys were awesome live. they opened with "head.cars.bending" which i thought might not function live but it was massive. they played about half new songs, all of which sounded great, one of which kind of sounded like paramore's "ain't it fun" as performed by a slightly funkier blue nile, another ("settle down," i think) which gorgeously mined the same kind of gauzy fake u2 as "you"
