Hot Boyz is great, and I've warmed to La Thugga Mane overall. But at this point I'm probably done checking out any "new" 1017 output from YT. He's pretty clearly off that label, so anything from them with his name on it is clearly leftovers.

couple of years ago i was travelling around morocco with only ICFN2 on my phone to listen to. eating hash cakes on the beach in essaouira listening to 'haitian slang'. fucking weird, honestly

yeah i love blanguage. maybe in part just because it's one of the few CDQ tracks where you can really soak up his voice in high fidelity. the way the beat/flow switches going into the 'banana boat/cantaloupe' bit is just the greatest.

"OMG" is the one song where i think he sounds too much like a spongebob character

i think we should talk about what makes his music bad when it's bad, bc while we are largely fans the polarized online argument of 'the only rapper worth hearing' vs. 'destroying the culture' is wholly ruining the enjoyment of young thug for me

on the contrary i feel like a lot of the "destroying the culture" arguments lobbed at young thug are as homophobic as any rapper since..... kanye? that makes me like young thug a lot more

i almost feel like the stylistic war regarding young thug-type rappers has been ceded by the conservatives and that it's actually more acceptable to argue against young thug (or lil b) on subtextually homophobic grounds
