It'll probably be in a Claus Olssen branch.

This is getting too weird, on a "fandoms colliding" kinda tip.

american singer songwriters with scots irish folk fixations dont fall very far from those trees

Nothing less than the Spirit of the Age (nakhchivan), Sunday, 31 August 2014 22:57 (eleven years ago)

distance from a tree is no metric of satisfactory listening I ever found myself lusting after but come I've said my piece as far as this thread goes

Special edition is quite ornate:
http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2014/september/syro-aphex-twin

Guess it's somewhat expected for the quid you're extracting for it

octobeard, Wednesday, 3 September 2014 07:56 (eleven years ago)

Love this. Also it only occurred to me after a talking with my partner last night that the sole intention behind releasing those track titles, BPMs and run times was to encourage loads of bootlegs and rub obsessive fans up the wrong way. Same as this deluxe edition and the Caustic Window album - this is good music, but it's not worth £200-£46,000.

New interview: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/aphex-twin-on-new-syro-lp-im-feeling-really-horny-about-it-and-very-smug-20140903#ixzz3CH2dlUjr

Yeah, I've got this brand spanking new Swedish digital-analog hybrid drum machine-sampler-synthesizer. It's fucking good. Pretty much everything I do has to be somehow related to making music – when I came up to London to do press, I thought, "Oh, I can go on the train and make some music on the way up." But then on the train, I didn't have any power sockets to plug anything into, so that didn't work out so good. I'm going to make sure that they have sockets in the one on the way back.

Since when did Richard become so adorable? This interview is quite open and earnest (it would seem). Also, did he just buy an OP-1? Sounds like it from his description.

octobeard, Thursday, 4 September 2014 08:45 (eleven years ago)

I thought it might have been that new Elektron drum machine, but that sounds plausible

JLB Credit (Jack BS), Thursday, 4 September 2014 09:07 (eleven years ago)

He still lies his head off. Basically contradicted a ton of stuff he said in other interviews over the past couple of years. (Then again, given those were supposed to be email interviews, it's entirely possible they weren't him?)

He sounds pretty happy, which is good.

Skrillex has called Aphex Twin's 1997 track "Flim" his "fav song of all time."

How many kids do you have?
Two boys, eight and six. They make music, both of them. I don't know if you've ever heard of an artist called Mark Fell – it's avant-garde techno, not danceable. Someone said [my son's music] sounds like a cross between that and Holly Herndon, who's another experimental electronic artist. That's really accurate, actually. He was five when he did it.

lol, so proud

mattresslessness, Thursday, 4 September 2014 16:45 (eleven years ago)

also mark fell is gr8 and his sensate focus tracks are totally danceable

i wish i could lick my own ball listening to this

am0n, Thursday, 4 September 2014 21:35 (eleven years ago)

A good opinion of ICBYD makes my opinion valid or invalid? I rate it between 3.5/4 stars out of five.

Moka, Thursday, 4 September 2014 21:35 (eleven years ago)

you can live

ugh (lukas), Thursday, 4 September 2014 21:36 (eleven years ago)

Daphnis Celesta, Thursday, 4 September 2014 21:37 (eleven years ago)

he just.......................................... cared because you do xp

mattresslessness, Thursday, 4 September 2014 21:37 (eleven years ago)

I'm not going to listen to any of these tracks until I get the LP I guess.

xp I'm interested in Lukas's opinion about "...I care" though because I've only just rediscovered after years and years of it being sat in a cupboard festering and being ignored. It sounds so, so great in the last two days I've heard it again. Almost like the Aphex I'd dreamed of hearing after SAWII. erm, yeah. I know.

kraudive, Thursday, 4 September 2014 21:38 (eleven years ago)

it is very richard h. kirk : lovely melodic bouncy bleeps, layered/cut up/processed vocals

subsequently, i really like it.
