85$ for a concert ticket is infuriating. I really wanted to see him live.

when he played here on his spring tour tickets were $25. but there's a whole shady cottage industry of nightclubs who book a midlevel rapper to perform for 20 minutes and charge an arm and a leg.

It's part of the local festival. All good if it helps the local festival alive, give a chant to emergent artists to perform and whatnot, but there is so little hip-hop going in this city (montreal) it ends up being very frustrating.

Ab-Soul used to be an actual good rapper, I have no idea what happened. The rest of the dudes acquit themselves pretty well.

Also, Blank Face is out today.

I have just been listening to Blank Face, not feeling a lot of it - maybe I'm just not in the mood for it. I keep waiting for habits and contradictions 2 tbh.

I had a bit of a stoned epiphany listening to Blank Face last night and have decided it is pretty dope after all.

It hasn't got anything to match some of the bangers off oxymoron, but it is still a fine album.

I'm in love with "Groovy Tony/Eddie Kane."

record is good. been pretty hit and miss artist for me but this is consistent

This is amazing. Agreed that Groovy Tony/Eddie Kane is something else. Love the Vince Staples and E-40 tracks too.

Even despite the inconsistency of previous albums I still loved 'em, but this one hasn't got a dud track on it and is probably his best album yet. But still my fave ever Q tracks are on habits.. and oxymoron.

I don't know those albums at all - this is my introduction. I'll definitely revisit older stuff on the strength of this though.

Oxymoron is at least half an alltime classic album, plenty on it to love.

John Muir is another cut off Blank Face i keep repeating.

i don't know what i think yet, it did sound aimless as i've seen said, but strong, likely a grower

I felt like that at first, it is deffo a grower and has a lot of strength in depth.

can't tell if there's anything as good as 'man of the year' or 'collard greens' but there was a huge gap between those 2 and the next best track on oxymoron, this is way more consistent

I can't believe how much better than Oxymoron this is, replace THat Part with the Black Hippy remix and drop the (sadly ignorable) Miguel collab and it's even better

Was just blasting out JoHn Muir and thinking: another new Schoolboy Q alb badly needed.

How popular is he? I really like him but I feel like he ain't talked about as much as A$AP Rocky or anyone from the mumble crew.

new album out today--it felt like there was a weird lack of hype for this one, idk why.

gave it a full listen this morning. feels low-stakes and fragmented compared to Blank Face. some good moments and cool production but weirdly unambitious. some grating hooks, too.

yeah, i figured from the pre-released tracks that it wouldn't be as ambitious or eclectic as blank face, but whatever, every artist reserves the right to make minor works every once in a while.

I don't think he's charming enough to coast through bang average material or something. what a disappointment :(

yeah, this is pretty listless, with a couple exceptions (5200, Numb Numb Juice, maybe the Cudi collab).
