I'm actually going to be in the UK for this, but not necessarily in London. Thinking I should alter my plans.

Also, I'm going to the show tonight in SF. Definitely will be crowded, but bros? I'm expecting the same type of crowd that showed up for the James Murphy DJ sets
― octobeard, Friday, 22 August 2014 20:46 (ten years ago) link
Yeah dunno, I had a bad experience at the last John Talabot dj set there. Maybe I'm just getting old.
― ugh (lukas), Friday, 22 August 2014 21:11 (ten years ago) link
I'm guessing that his set in SF tonight will be more expansive and enjoyable than the hour he's booked to play at FYF Fest tomorrow (where I will be seeing him even though the asslord in charge of booking decided his set should overlap with Run The Jewels).

― brimstead, Saturday, 23 August 2014 02:09 (ten years ago) link
because, i mean, before this album came out, i primarily knew him as a kickass dj
― brimstead, Saturday, 23 August 2014 02:10 (ten years ago) link
He's playing live. I was kind of hoping he'd DJ, actually... the venue is better for that. But I'll take him live any day of the week.

can anyone confirm if this "label" is just cheap bootlegs of bootlegs?
http://www.discogs.com/label/181239-TTJ
not concerned with its legitimacy so much as how good they sound

C&P as DJ History's ending very soon:
Hello. For some reason the french (Cyber) thought I was so hot they just HAD to bootleg my edits. Pressed up on vinyl from 192kbit mp3s found online, I doubt their product is worth your money. I didn't care at first, but when I saw 12" number 2 in the shops and also found out number 3 is on it's way I felt the need to say this. So, please don't buy this crap, wait for original Tangoterje Bootlegs™ from your local Tangoterje Bootleg™ provider. Or even the planned LEGAL edit compilation.

I think running it was taking a large amount of time for Bill & Frank so they've decided to close that chapter of of their lives as well as the Low Life parties in order to focus on other things.
Shame but the forum side of it has seen a large drop in traffic the last few years anyway.

I blame the vinyl renaissance.

Just, fuck.
That was fantastic and the live band version of Ragysh was absolutely incredible.
Please to god let someone have ripped the audio from the set.

Amazing. Seen him twice in the past year and both times he went without the band. Man I've been unlucky.

Heard a dope pop song that sampled svenk sas but can't remember anything else about it & can't find it... Anyone know?
― • (sleepingbag), Thursday, 4 February 2016 01:56 (eight years ago) link
is it the original of svenk sas?
― just sayin, Thursday, 4 February 2016 02:02 (eight years ago) link
Dunno (can you point me toward that?) but I'm guessing prolly not?
Sounded v contemporary, like it could have come out yesterday, with a female vocalist, and the hook had a prominent sample from what sounded like the 'album time' version of this song that I'm super familiar with so it jumped out at me. Can't remember any lyrics at all tho :/

You should consider yourself fortunate, because I'm cringing at it. You listen to shit like this and you realise what a lucky escape it was that he didn't get time to properly finish the album.

"Hot off the Olsen press comes Dansbar #1, the first in a brand new series aiming to shine some much needed light on the lost history of Norway's disco underground. First in the firing line is Beranek's mad capped morality tale, 'Dra Te Hælvete', a mislaid classic much loved by the most adventurous DJs in the Scandinavian circuit."

I'm one of the people who wasn't disappointed with the album in the slightest, but I'm really struggling to care about what he does anymore. These new songs aren't the direction I wanted him to go in.
