this didn't exactly sink in on one listen but then neither did "tough love", i am happy to spend time with it!

lex pretend, Thursday, 24 July 2014 14:30 (eleven years ago)

same and same. co written by romy from the xx

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 24 July 2014 14:53 (eleven years ago)

this wimpy xx shit is the exact opposite direction i want her music to go

adam, Thursday, 24 July 2014 15:37 (eleven years ago)

it sounds like she took a bunch of klonopin and hid in a beige blanket fort

DERE is no DERE DERE (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 July 2014 16:58 (eleven years ago)

What happened to the exuberance of "Imagine It Was Us"??

DERE is no DERE DERE (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 July 2014 16:58 (eleven years ago)

did you guys miss the bit where "imagine it was us" was a complete anomaly for her? these two singles are more in line with devotion than it was

i mean it is still the best song she's ever done yeah but that doesn't mean that's what we should expect henceforth

lex pretend, Thursday, 24 July 2014 17:56 (eleven years ago)

They're in line with the slower bits in Devotion I liked less.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 24 July 2014 18:18 (eleven years ago)

almost every song on devotion has way more muscle behind it, in the sade sense, than this or "tough love," both of which are fairly timid.

adam, Thursday, 24 July 2014 18:47 (eleven years ago)

I was hoping IIWU was like hinting at the direction in which she was headed but instead she was just like HAHAHA J/K GOTCHA and then turned around and ran in the complete opposite direction. Also these two singles don't really seem to do anything magical w/ her voice like most of Devotion did.

DERE is no DERE DERE (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 24 July 2014 19:15 (eleven years ago)

i like these songs but they're definitely growers. gonna buy this the minute it comes out of course!

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Thursday, 24 July 2014 19:27 (eleven years ago)

it's two songs, everyone relax

also i'm willing to bet that they're gonna have an american single that is not in the vein of these tracks at all

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 24 July 2014 19:43 (eleven years ago)

i like tough love more than this, but it's worth noting that this is going to "appear on the deluxe edition" of the album, which makes me think it's a bonus track

uxorious gazumping (monotony), Thursday, 24 July 2014 21:25 (eleven years ago)

if that's b-side material (or deluxe edition add-on whatever) then i can only believe the non-single tracks are going to be bonkers amazing.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 25 July 2014 01:52 (eleven years ago)

Stevie Deux from what I saw at her show (on the last tour), the new album will include parts of magical voice.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 25 July 2014 01:54 (eleven years ago)

I seen her on 2 diff tours but never playing new stuff :-( I hope it's so good

DERE is no DERE DERE (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 25 July 2014 02:11 (eleven years ago)

i have total faith in her. also i disagree with the idea that "tough love" is timid / lacking in muscle.

uxorious gazumping (monotony), Friday, 25 July 2014 03:03 (eleven years ago)

The Deluxe Edition tracks on the Katy B album are the best ones fwiw. That said I don't think Jessie's album will be as monumentally pissed about with as Katy's.

Matt DC, Friday, 25 July 2014 15:49 (eleven years ago)

hmmm controversial opinion i guess but i don't really think the little red bonus tracks are anywhere near as essential as y'all made out initially, a decent number of them are pretty boring + sounded better as snippets than they actually did on the album

dyl, Friday, 25 July 2014 16:07 (eleven years ago)

anyway i'm low-key into this new track and "tough love" remains good, i see no reason for alarm yet

dyl, Friday, 25 July 2014 16:07 (eleven years ago)

The clear standout on the Katy B album for me is "Emotions", I really hope that is made a single at some point

uxorious gazumping (monotony), Friday, 25 July 2014 23:42 (eleven years ago)

same

I think he's just playing the guitar.

Was hoping there might be a Chance the Rapper feat. somewhere. Looks like for the moment the Arthur theme was the extent of their collab.

that breakdown is prrretty corny

Number None, Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:01 (eleven years ago)

I think I have officially lost all hope and anticipation for this album

DERE is no DERE DERE (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:08 (eleven years ago)

we still haven't heard any of the Miguel tracks. There's that

Number None, Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:11 (eleven years ago)

♛ LIL UNIT ♛ (thomp), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:21 (eleven years ago)

I still love "Tough Love" but this one, no.

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:22 (eleven years ago)

wow a pop singer on the cusp of a potential major career breakthrough made a crossover track, how ever will we cope with this betrayal

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:47 (eleven years ago)

solitary posts

noballs (wins), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:48 (eleven years ago)

Wildest Moments was a crossover track

except it was good

Number None, Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:51 (eleven years ago)

her last albums has songs worse than this

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:52 (eleven years ago)

album

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:52 (eleven years ago)

well, it's as neither-here-nor-there as, say, Devotion's title track.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:53 (eleven years ago)

the first three singles off Devotion were Running, 110%, and Wildest Moments. It's fair to say this album isn't measuring up so far

Number None, Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:56 (eleven years ago)

those singles also towered over the rest of the album

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:58 (eleven years ago)

that's true. Hopefully it's the opposite this time

Number None, Tuesday, 12 August 2014 19:59 (eleven years ago)

totally fine with this song jeez

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 20:06 (eleven years ago)

xp those three singles did not tower over "sweet talk" "night light" or "taking in water" in the slightest

that said this is pretty w/e

dyl, Tuesday, 12 August 2014 20:52 (eleven years ago)

"Sweet Talk" is my favorite on the first album.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 13 August 2014 04:18 (eleven years ago)

I like the title track a lot, whatever.

Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 13 August 2014 04:23 (eleven years ago)

Okay, this is already growing on me.

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Wednesday, 13 August 2014 04:59 (eleven years ago)

this song and that horrible breakdown are more worthy of jessie j than jessie ware

lex pretend, Wednesday, 13 August 2014 09:40 (eleven years ago)

her last albums has songs worse than this

it has one song that's bad but still nowhere near as bad as this

lex pretend, Wednesday, 13 August 2014 09:41 (eleven years ago)

strictly speaking "sweet talk" was not a single but it was an advance track that they put out ahead of the full release, which reinforced my feeling at the time that all the best songs off that album came out before the thing itself

le goon (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 August 2014 11:48 (eleven years ago)

Her voice sounds amazing on this but the rest of it is really horrible and it upsets me that I'm thinking that.
