Pizza doesn't really seem like a signifier of "post-Y2K punk cool, childhood lolstalgia, and "so random" larfs." It is a signifier of something, and there is nostalgia involved but I don't think it's supposed to be funny or punk. Maybe "American junk culture at its most awesome"? Like nostalgia for when America was powerful enough that even its cheapest bastardization of European culture could somehow improve on it.

First time I was aware of nostalgia/LOL/punk qualities of pizza meme-ification was seeing a tattoo on a crust punk 7 or 8 years ago. Instead of a tattoo of a tear, it was a pizza slice.

And holy crap I just realized, is the "Crust" in "Crust Punk" related to pizza? As in, crust punks only eat trashed food/the leftover crusts of society?
