If anyone hasn't heard of Tarras I strongly recommend you track down their new album - very folky, but the first track, Arizona, is the best song I've heard this year.

Neil Finn - Nil Fun
Gorillaz
The Fiddleheads - live (my brother in law's band)
Folk Implosion - One Part Lullaby
and the fifth most recent could be one of three (mind is gone); The High Fidelity Soundtrack, Matador Records 10th Anniversary, or Spookey Ruben - Modes of Transportation Volume 2. I should qualify that I put my CD buying on near hiatus due to MP3 'almost too much new music' supersaturation.

Just now in work? Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction. Made me extremely miserable except for "Sweet Child Of Mine" and the changeover in "Rocket Queen".
On way into work? Mixtape which - again - seemed to take on a gloomy bent as I recorded it. The Dismemberment Plan's "Spider In The Snow" accompanying my 5 minute walk in.
On the Oxford Tube last night? Various Artists - The Rough Guide To West Africa. And before that Various Artists - Afrique Dynamique. African music seems to be the only thing that can relax me currently. Playing them I suddenly wanted to listen to and write about nothing but this stuff. Then it struck me I couldn't say much about it and I only have 5 or 6 records/tapes of it. When I got back in I stayed up for several hours but played nothing.
Before that? "Fear Of Drowning" a single by British Sea Power, who seem promising enough though not as interesting as the last two minutes of a set I caught suggested (consisting of them beating the stage and each other with branches).
