then again, it has been a long long time since i actually listened to it.

anything on the evening session = britpop afaic

if it was a british guitar act it got labelled britpop. Just like during grunge top of the pops called the spin doctors and the lemonheads grunge.

Much (not all) of the Lovely Eggs stuff is pretty wonderful. They might have been my favorite old band discovered last year.

That seems, to me, pretty much it for what has endured in terms of '90s British guitar pop. The rest of the stuff I listen to from the '90s these days seems to be electronic/dance music and US alternative rock.

i realise ILM hates them now but surely any list without Oasis is somewhat skewed.

Being from the US, I didn't get any of the negative press/attitude that seemed to hang around Dodgy, but I loved their Homegrown album. Haven't listened to it in 20yrs, but it sure was fun in 94/95.

did you know that the Bluetones have recently extended their 20th anniversary reunion tour by 18 dates due to popular demand? I'm not going because I don't like going to gigs, but I love the Bluetones

They’ve all been very good. His brother, bassist Scott, moved to Japan to utilise a nifty skill for graphic design and animation; drummer Eds Chester is an osteopath, while guitarist Adam Devlin has carved out a new identity as a guitarist for hire (most notably with excellent Socialist supergroup Thee Cee Cees) and, despite being genuinely sweet in real life, has a neat sideline as a superbly effective twitter troll (according to his profile “BLOCKED by: @piersmorgan @DailyMailUK @KTHopkins @KayBurley @Nigel_Farage @Scientology @lancearmstrong @Joey7Barton @U2 @Sting and @gwenstefani. Oh yeah, while Britpop undoubtedly got a lot of coverage at the time, it would be beyond stupid to even imply that it was the only thing that happened/was happening in the '90s.

Oasis were undoubtedly at their best from 1994-1996, and incredibly huge in the UK for a couple of years, but I really struggle to find the enthusiasm to listen to one of their albums in 2015. I'm pretty much the same with other bands from the time, too, even Manic Street Preachers.

Turrican, have you listened to Mark Morris' latest solo album, 'The Taste Of Mark Morris'? it includes a cover of OMD's Souvenir

I like his versions of Souvenir and Love Comes Quickly, I'm going to go ahead and say that say that covering Duchess from Scott 4 was a mistake, though

he was a worse singer than the prat from the seahorses (which says a lot)
