Probably my fave too, its the most consistent
― How dare you tarnish the reputation of Turturro's yodel (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 28 April 2014 00:21 (twelve years ago)
Will probably go with "Red Hot Mama," very narrowly over "Alice."
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 28 April 2014 00:22 (twelve years ago)
I haven't polled this??

I'm much more of a Parliament fan overall but this is my favourite George Clinton related album. Think I'm going for Jimmy's Got a Little Bit of Bitch in Him.
― Kitchen Person, Monday, 28 April 2014 01:35 (twelve years ago)
Tough choice between "Red Hot Mama" and "I'll Stay." Of course, if "Vital Juices," the B-side of "Red Hot Mama" was included, that might get my vote—it's basically the second half of the song, three more minutes of insane Eddie Hazel guitar.
― Humorist (horse) (誤訳侮辱), Monday, 28 April 2014 02:15 (twelve years ago)
Ooh, difficult... it appears to be everyone on this thread's favourite Funkadelic album... including me! Possibly "I'll Stay" but probably title track.

Went with the title track.
― Toni Braxton-Hicks (Turrican), Monday, 28 April 2014 18:07 (twelve years ago)
voted "I'll Stay", which has got that perfect blend of funk and fucked-up-ness in the best Funkadelic tracks. But yeah, this is an underrated album, and probably my fave of their mid-70s period.
― Dominique, Monday, 28 April 2014 19:14 (twelve years ago)

Had to go back and relisten to this one...can't honestly say its one of my fave Funkadelic albums but "Alice" is fantastic ..."Good Thoughts/Bad Thoughts" is lovely though...so sad Eddie Hazel died so young...true genius...
― X-Prince Protégé (sonnyboy), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 14:42 (twelve years ago)
According to Wikipedia, this album turned 40 years old yesterday.

You know this is the only Funkadelic album where Eddie Hazel wrote all the music?
― A frenzied geologist (Tom D.), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 07:59 (twelve years ago)
I know...do loke this album but prefer his solo album and tracks like 'Good To Your Earholes' and 'Maggot Brain'...

Really cannot decide between "Red Hot Mama" and "Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts." I guess the latter seems to be getting less love itt than the former, so that.

As part of the first annual DC Funk Parade festivities near U Street Saturday a bunch of guitar-playing folks were all doing "Maggot Brain" together. Eh, it was ok
― curmudgeon, Monday, 5 May 2014 13:32 (twelve years ago)
not a very parade-y (or particularly funky) song
― PLATYPUS OF DOOM (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 5 May 2014 15:27 (twelve years ago)
My friend helped organize that. How was the rest of it?
― Naive Teen Idol, Thursday, 8 May 2014 02:34 (twelve years ago)
"Maggot Brain" was part of the pre-parade fair (various bands were playing outside in parking lots and near metro subway stations). The parade itself did not have that many participants but I enjoyed it-- the awesome Ballou High band and majorettes from SE DC led off and there was that DC based female Brazilian drum percussion team Batala, and a young dancing & acrobatics girls squad, but otherwise anyone was invited to march which meant lotsa bearded 20 somethings and and a few neighborhood oldtimers. Had stuff to do so could not stick around for the later free EU ("da butt") gig. Lotsa local groups were playing gratis from 7 to 10 in some of the U Street area clubs
