Cosey Fanni Tutti: Classic or Dud?

I've always thought October Love Song was fantastic. I'm puzzled as to why I'm not more familiar with the rest of their career by now. It seems like they kindof get overlooked in post-punk circles.

depends how you're willing to define post-punk, but no, I don't think they're generally overlooked.

Andrew Weatherall included them on 9 O'clock Drop, a comp that was pretty influential in the more recent "post-punk" revival, and they generally rate very high in techno, electro and industrial circles.

there's something so joyous and playful about chris carter's production that wasn't really present in throbbing gristle ("AB/7A" and "walkabout" notwithstanding) and is only barely present in chris and cosey. even the darker more aggressive tracks have this kind of wide-eyed energy.

was "electrodub 2" one of the first official 808 jams? i read somewhere he was one of the first in britain to use one

i guess "electrodub 2" isn't an 808 since the space between came out in 1980. doesn't sound like the tr-77 (i think?) from the rest of the album

i always say that "dancing ghosts" was the first acid track as it MUST be the first track to use an 808 and a 303. all the way back in '82.

not inappropriate at all. it is unedited. it's exactly the same as the elemental 7 version except that chris carter remastered it.

ah cheers! will save a fair bit of money on the elemental 7 record - the rest of the comp looks great as well

chris carter reissues look like they are go. will hopefully be out before the end of the year.

the plan is to release a 4 track 10" of tracks from the space between. if that sells enough to break even there might be a second volume. there will also (hopefully) be a 12" of moonlight from mondo beat with a remix on the other side and a 10" of tg's AB/7A with a remix on the other side.

thats a slightly modified version of the original cover to the CD I have, which I used to stare out for hours in high school trying to figure out exactly what was going on.

From the Optimo Music 12" - Chris Carter - The Spaces Between (OM 008), a 6 track EP of tracks from Chris Carter. 5 of the tracks originally appeared on "The Space Between" cassette, released on industrial Records in 1980 and were subsequently reissued on CD in 1991. This will be the first time they have appeared on vinyl. There is a bonus sixth track, "Climbing" that only previously appeared on the 1981 "Stabmental" tape compilation compiled by Geoff Rushton, later of Coil. All tracks were remastered by Chris Carter in 2009. Scheduled for release on Optimo Music late 2009 / early 2010.

it's coming! it got delayed while i sorted out new distribution which is now all sorted. it'll be the first release i do via kompakt. it has been expanded to 8 tracks from tape.

in the meantime, c&c are putting out their back catalogue on vinyl again very shortly.

Finally got around to listening to 2t2 and it's excellent. I'm surprised that all of the book success isn't translating to more hype for the music.

I gotta check that out, if it was on Bandcamp I would have already but they insist on their own site.
