didn't vote for 3rd world man, but instead cast a ballot for "were you blind that day" which I thought was such a killer track. "The bear" from the Lost Gaucho boot ended up on my ballot as well.― lauded at conferences of deluded psychopaths (Sparkle Motion), Tuesday, April 8, 2014

So glad someone else was digging the outtakes...it's ridiculous to include them when like every song on the 7 albums could conceivably be in the top 20, but there are some real jewels. Today I am regretting not putting "Sign in Stranger" in my 20, tomorrow it will be something else.

the only better way would be to take out "with fam" (for me, I kid)
― Iago Galdston, Thursday, 10 April 2014 13:12 (twelve years ago)
i never did say this but i thought "My Old School" was going to win this thing as it was leading almost the whole time. it was the last three for four ballots that actually finally put "Deacon Blues" over the top and then it wasn't even close.

What *are* these venues? The Mountain Winery, Saratoga or Darling's Waterfront Pavilion, Bangor don't sound like it was a toss-up between them and Madison Square Garden or the Rose Bowl.
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 09:51 (twelve years ago)
Oh man I think I could pull off seeing them in Atlantic City
Perfect place

crazy that they are going to be in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, but they are skipping Texas altogether?!?!?!
― nitro-burning funny car (Moodles), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 13:39 (twelve years ago)
Man, they really hate that "Dallas" song to a fault, don't they?
I still can't get over that Rogers thing. I thought that the AMP (Arkansas Music Pavilion) was some sort of bluegrass center with the occasional guest appearance by Night Ranger.
The Brady Theater in Tulsa is pretty cool though. Pretty intimate place to hold a Steely Dan show.

Sometimes bands do tours of all the places they missed on the last run, maybe that's what this is?
― nitro-burning funny car (Moodles), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 14:30 (twelve years ago)
yeah, still kicking myself for missing the steely dan/michael mcdonald show at chastain a few years back
― balls, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 14:32 (twelve years ago)
I kind of admire the fact that they're playing places that a band of their stature would normally avoid. But I probably wouldn't be saying that if I didn't live in one of those places. Might end up checking them out this year.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 14:35 (twelve years ago)
I think being a band that does theatres and outdoor shed-type venues probably opens up the most geographical options for touring, compared to a band who does the kind of large clubs or arenas that you tend to get in major population centers
― posi riot (some dude), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 14:38 (twelve years ago)
How are the ticket prices? When they were in NYC I remember seats started at like $200
Like smaller venues sound cool but it also seems like a good way to ensure high ticket prices
― 龜, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 14:44 (twelve years ago)
i would rather donate $200 to charity

i love how in your gold teeth 1&2 (esp 2) the music just unfurls away from the title line being sung in a way that basically sounds like watching gold teeth skitter cross a plush '70s carpet with a really garish pattern.
