I listened to this a bunch last night. It is really good. I also realized that the beginning reminds me of Fastball's "Out of My Head", which was played to death on my hometown radio station in the late nineties.

I feel like getting all rock-crit adjectival for that cheeze keyboard solo by Fagen.....a "knowing" solo? an "insinuating" solo? "insinuatingly knowing"??

it's like he's mocking Palmer's vocal right behind him.

"Dirty Work" was my only vote from the debut. the sax's mocking too, could segue nicely into "Yakety Sax"

I think Everything Must Go just suffers from lack of consensus about the best tracks, even to the minor degree than TAN had "Jack of Speed"

"Do It Again" is one of those rare heard-it-a-million-times songs that I have never really grown tired of. It was the song that made me a Steely Dan fan back in '72 (I've never been really fond of "Reelin' in the Years" and didn't vote for that one).

I thought "Things I Miss The Most" might have had a shot, but it's not like any bum tracks made the cut over it

agh but the title track is such a great encapsulation of their aesthetic, and a perfect cap to their career if they never make another record together
