Dude is so young and so smart and so confident in his voice. He might not make another Acid Rap, but I could easily see him surpassing it.

the most fucked up part about that is that the "savior" in his life is birdman, who is notorious for fucking every single one of his artists -- including his "son" -- out of royalty money

didn't come out when announced to come out but it's not like 1017 doesn't generally put out what they say they're gonna put out sooner or later

True, I'm just starved for mixtapes right now. I burn through them so fast these days and wanted some new ones I could look forward to listening to at the gym. I am very, very spoiled.

I lost the will to keep up with Jandek Mane's output a long time ago, hopefully one of y'all true believers will let me know when there's a song I wouldn't wanna miss out on

He hasn't put out anything essential since his mini-renaissance in 2012, but even with the dip in quality and consistency I started to grow dependent on his near constant releases last year, so his imprisonment came as a blow to me. The good news is he's sounded a lot sharper on the handful of tracks he's teased this year; seems like he was in pretty good form right before he went back to jail.

If Gucci is doing real jail time, and he might be, the thing I'm going to miss more than his output is his ear for new talent. Even during his own creative ruts he's been incredible as developing protege rappers and producers, to the point where him being sidelined feels like a big blow to Atlanta's entire farm system

Scooter is absolutely slaying lately. "Disfunction" is one of my fav tracks of the year, and SL2 is super solid, too.

And Peewee Longway also seems to be clawing his way out of the second tier.

Haven't been able to get it this yet either; a lot of it is a disjointed mess. Thug doesn't sound sharp at all, and even when he does he's on such a different wavelength from Gucci it just doesn't work.

"Siblings" is a nice throwback to the ICFN era, so much so that it might be a leftover from that era

it is cool to have a new rapper (well I didn't get into 1017 Thug 'til after the fact) I'm genuinely excited about though, cuz depending on possibly past-their-prime legends is bad for your health

new mixtape sounds pretty good to me. I'm only just starting/trying to get into Young Thug though. but this stuff is a lot better than "Stoner" to me. "Don't Look at Me" is sick.

I've warmed to the opening stretch after hearing it on actual headphones. Comes out pretty strong, and as a whole it's leaps above Black Portland. But the final half still feels like Gucci verses copied and pasted onto Thug tracks, or vice versa

I think they have p good chemistry: Gucci all laid back and repetitive, Thug restless, all over the place. It makes more sense than most Gucci collabos.

TBH i think that song is better in the context of the tape than as a solo track.
