also funny/sad that all the creativity went into the ads rather than the merch, which is pretty pedestrian (i mean a DP buckle belt?)

i'd never buy any of this shit even if it was half as much and its weird they're doing it a whole year later but these ads still rule.

They're playing on the fact that we're all nostalgic for 2013 - so long ago it might as well have been the 70s.

The helmet shirt is exactly the kind of shirt dorky 14-year-old me would buy thinking "With this t-shirt purchase, I will at long last possess coolness!"

i kind of admire the faithfulness of the ads to that visual style from 70s/80s, but i hate that fucking ad style, even as a kid seeing those kinds of ads in old magazines i just always found it claustrophobic and stuffy

haha, I love those old ads. I have volumes of books with ads from the 60s-80s, and really don't ever get tired of looking at them. (possibly helps having family in the biz)

the worst kind of band shirt is the shirt that just replicates the cover art, with very rare exceptions. imo.

I like the ads but I would really just rather wear an Italians Do It Better shirt 100% of the time tbh

What's the point of adding stupid fake ass "VIP" passes to things like this? Never got that. I always think of the printer getting a request to make these things.

Daft Punk: "We'd like you to print this VIP pass!"
Printer: "Cool! Is it for your next tour?"
Daft Punk: "Uhm no, it's a replica of VIP pass we once handed out, like ten years ago."
Printer: "*crickets*... Ok..."

you can look at the VIP pass and remember when you actually had that VIP pass for that 1997 show and how good it felt before your company pets.com failed.

this album is still ridiculous garbage. "give life" was a promising start, though

promising solely for it's message? the rest of the album does not seem so far removed from the opening track, except maybe in short flourishes.

I guess hating Pharrell's vocals could ruin 'Lose Yourself to Dance' and 'Get Lucky', which seem most similar though
