Then Andrew Weatherall takes the hot seat, sharing tales of his earliest musical memories and influences. Full details of artists scheduled to host these sessions will be announced shortly

you'd have thought that the RA podcast & online radio must have severely dented the Fabric CD sales, if they were ever significant - there's just no way they can keep pace. they should slow down the release schedule and have less frequent, but bigger 'event' CDs like the Villalobos. and the podcast can pick up the slack...

plus with all the money they'd save on licensing, artwork, distribution etc, they could afford to pack fewer people into the club! :-/

Herbalizer one killed me yesterday

As shitty as a lot of the mixing on Nitin Sawhney's Fabric issue is, I really dig the back to back Homelands mixing, especially somewhere between 13:00-18:00.

The Herbaliser's mix is also good, as is DJ Format's.

the ewan pearson has plenty of good tracks (panopeeps!) but the jahcoozi song that opens it is kinda gross

I really can't get into the Pearson one - his SciFiHiFi and Resident Advisor mixes were fantastic in different ways but on this one he's all 'OMG I am doing a Fabric Mix - I AM SERIOUS EWAN THIS IS SERIOUS MIX' and it falls a bit flat for me.

But still OMG podcast! Excited.

Craig Richards is a great DJ, never hear much about him on ILX though.

Pearson has always had a weakness for good tracks with bad vocals.

I felt this way too but it grew on me - it's not a pretty as the other two mixes but it's pretty compulsive stuff ultimately, esp. the last third or so.

Fabric 42: Âme - best fabric mix i've heard in a while. wasn't really loving the Luciano. therefore, Search the fuck outta Fabric 42.

the jay haze is pretty cool, I've spun that a few times in the last week since I got it. starts out with some smoked-out reggae-tinged type of stuff then wavers back and forth between that type of vibe and staticky minimal

co-sign on can't wait for radioslave

i do like me a radioslave mix, but sometimes i feel like i'm the only person who really finds the productions (under the radioslave moniker) to be completely lackluster and, if i may say so, boring.

eep. haven't heard any new ones in a while but I like Bell Clap and loooove No Sleep 3 (guess that's more of an edit really) and Deer in the Headlights remix &c.

reggae-tinged type of stuff

bad description ... more like downtempo or something. stuttery piano n breakbeats with some housey keyboards deep in the mix, then melds into some sparse low piano 4-4 beat stuff. and a lot of tracks have that sizzling hisssssssss

people have been hating on radio slave on ilx since 2006 at least!

but then half of em came around!

john tejada's seems to have been slept on, it's awesome

I'd been meaning to check out that VonStroke one seeing as I love pretty much everything he's done.

Have to agree about the VonStroke - so so good, especially that track at the end...

well, radio slave's turned out pretty lame but magda's is a winner, i think. surprisingly entertaining.

I need to hear Fabric 50 Martyn. The tracklisting looks great.

I need a s/d on these series, I'm trying to get acquainted to it and haven't started yet.

none of the albums are really bad, except maybe the post-grooverider GO FASTA DUMM N BASS installments (j majik, andy c & dj hype, etc etc)

well, maybe one. michael mayer. terrible, terrible stuff. like all other kompakt related microhouse, a huge pus-leaking zit on the hairy ass of true techno music.

btw, i own all of the fabric / fabric lives barring the drum and bass ones (and i have many of those)

Zip is incredible. One of the few DJs who I track down random tapes from. He’s also an awesome dude.
