This June, Pitchfork is launching Nightcap, a series of late night shows across the United States.

It starts at 10 PM. Get it? It's a show, but it starts kinda late!! Isn't that really interesting??

I am seriously confused by this entire thing since a) as CAD said that is really not that late for a show b) what is the appeal of having a show start kind of late?

"starts at 10pm" means the headliner goes on at 1 am in my experience so that's pretty late
appeal to the venue would be they can rent out the space and make money
jim beam gets a ton of exposure
all the shows are in major cities where 1 am start is not ridic
seems pretty straightforward

and it's called "nightcap" because it's sponsored by an alcoholic beverage company

it's not very interesting or imaginative but it could be worse -- there could be dumb fake mustaches or they could have spelled it "nightc@p" or started an aggressive hashtag branding campaign
