see i can imagine what an "epic of of modest proportions" might be. sort of like chamber music.
― Eyeball Kicks, Wednesday, 12 March 2014 10:43 (twelve years ago)
can't wait for the next minor copyediting error to appear on the website so you can bump this thread again. it really is an endless giddy thrill

"this album is an epic of of montreal proportions"
― 龜, Wednesday, 12 March 2014 11:42 (twelve years ago)
that wasn't the only minor copywriting error today, either, just the most adorable
― reggie (qualmsley), Wednesday, 12 March 2014 12:03 (twelve years ago)
"an epic of modest proportions"
less like the Siege of Troy than the Assault on Precinct 13

this daily spot-the-typo game is a nice warm-up to the ny times crossword puzzle. thanks pitchfork!

http://pitchfork.com/news/54930-pitchfork-launches-nightcap-series/
This June, Pitchfork is launching Nightcap, a series of late night shows across the United States.
It starts at 10 PM. Get it? It's a show, but it starts kinda late!! Isn't that really interesting??
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:11 (twelve years ago)
don't they know about noise ordinances!
― the glimmer man (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:13 (twelve years ago)
that's not even that late for a show
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:18 (twelve years ago)
oohhh things are gonna get a little blue at that hour i bet
― christmas candy bar (al leong), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:26 (twelve years ago)

― ▴▲ ▴TH3CR()$BY$H()W▴▲ ▴ (Adam Bruneau), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:29 (twelve years ago)
I am seriously confused by this entire thing since a) as CAD said that is really not that late for a show b) what is the appeal of having a show start kind of late?
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:49 (twelve years ago)
"starts at 10pm" means the headliner goes on at 1 am in my experience so that's pretty lateappeal to the venue would be they can rent out the space and make moneyjim beam gets a ton of exposureall the shows are in major cities where 1 am start is not ridicseems pretty straightforward
― sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:52 (twelve years ago)
does everyone that goes to these shows get commemorative caps?
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:53 (twelve years ago)
everyone gets commemorative mustaches
― sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:54 (twelve years ago)
So they'll film some shows? I don't see any reason to mock this. Yeah so it's not very late, what idiots gawd!
Though honestly they didn't really explain this very well. Is there a concept/gimmick to it beyond recording live performances?
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:54 (twelve years ago)
Pitchfork presents: Youtube.
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:55 (twelve years ago)
Oh wait they're throwing shows. So they're just booking bands?
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:56 (twelve years ago)
we can mock it for its "water is wet" marketing approach
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:57 (twelve years ago)
it's almost like Jim Beam came to them and said "we have X amount of dollars what could we do" and then they came up with this idea and now people in New York can see a Majical Cloudz show
― whatchutola khomeini (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:00 (twelve years ago)
Assuming it's not JUST them booking bands for random venues, I don't even know what it is at all before I can mock it.
― Evan, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:01 (twelve years ago)
its an advertising partnership. they're just booking shows, but jim beam pays for it
― whatchutola khomeini (Whiney G. Weingarten), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:02 (twelve years ago)
it sounds like it's just them booking bands at random venues
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:03 (twelve years ago)
and it's called "nightcap" because it's sponsored by an alcoholic beverage company
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:04 (twelve years ago)
it's not very interesting or imaginative but it could be worse -- there could be dumb fake mustaches or they could have spelled it "nightc@p" or started an aggressive hashtag branding campaign
― sarahell, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:08 (twelve years ago)
why are we discussing this
― sitting on a claud all day gotta make your butt numb (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 21:10 (twelve years ago)
i'm not trying to be snide, i'm just curiousis the presumption that the pitchfork name means it deserves scrutiny/ridicule?

I was gonna come on here earlier to make fun of their constant mining of every little thing that happens between Drake vs. Jay-Z for front page news but forgot to.

ISn't this just what Red Bull have been doing for a while now? Only with booze and a Pitchfork imprimatur?
