Speedwagon is more "I've Got My Own Album To Do" thread, I think (though hilarious).

the four corners are basically all the same emotion, and the bottom middle isn't really an emotion, it's just "looking away from camera"

Ha, I'd never considered that before.

Well done! Rupert Holmes ftw, looks like a pretty full life he's lived in that circle. We started at the Itsukushima Shrine, baby, and look where we've ended up.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 11 August 2014 01:15 (nine years ago) link

ha. scrolling through i thought for half a second that it was a band called full circle with all kinds of inexplicable album titles.

Merdeyeux, Monday, 11 August 2014 01:19 (nine years ago) link

That band would have ruled! Like, each time they're trying to make up a really generic name for a different style of artist that might put out an album called "Full Circle."

Doctor Casino, Monday, 11 August 2014 01:34 (nine years ago) link

a lot of those albums can be summed up as "this is my first album in 20 years!" or "this is gonna be last album ever!" or "this is the album where I reflect upon my long and fruitful career." Rupert Holmes must have been an extraordinary human being in order to have gone full circle at age 34, just 2 years after his big hit.

Leon Thomas managed to avoid using the circle motif, despite the album title:

Though funnily enough, he used it in an earlier album with a different title:

the "full circle" album covers are killing it upthread

I dunno. (amateurist), Sunday, 26 October 2014 18:33 (nine years ago) link

ahaha i had forgotten those... I was all ready to type "Rupert Holmes ftw" but discovered I already had, yikes. staggerlee's "reflections" series is also wonderful.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 26 October 2014 19:04 (nine years ago) link

note to self: do not title an album, should i ever make one, "full circle"

That'd be funnier if it was an album called "John Lee Hooker" by a band called The Cream.

I feel like the cover of Udo Lindenberg's 1971 album "Lindenberg" qualifies here, at least to German speakers.

alternate cover art: an elderly Brian Wilson is sitting on the beach with a margarita in hand, being fanned by two beautiful beach babes. nearby, five young men in green-and-white striped swim trunks are running down the pier, just about to jump in the water. the chubby one (representing a young Brian Wilson) is waving at the older Brian to join them, but the older Brian dismisses him with a smug grin and a flick of the wrist. No Pier Pressure.
