same. he's been spoonfeeding signifiers that he is more Respectable and Innovative than other hip hop artists for a long time but out and out saying he is a genius who makes great art is some facepalm shit.

Went to the concert late last year and thought it was pretty awesome, but the story about the fan yelling for him to take off the mask is lol cuz I that was the main thing I thought was kinda lame

There's a trailer for a Hype Williams-directed concert film of some sort on his website. It's the same trailer that was shown with his appearance on Seth Meyers' show earlier this week, though we weren't told at the time that it was for a film.

I wonder how successful it will be since I heard a few reports on Twitter of some shows having like, half-empty stadiums and whatnot. If people don't want to see him live, why would they see him in a concert film at a movie theater?

Seth Meyers performance was pretty lame, I thought -- maybe a career-spanning medley is a good idea if the network will give you a block of ten minutes or more, but doing just a chorus of all but a couple songs just felt disjointed and pointless.

yeah i didn't like it at all, also he didn't even do that many good songs... like "heartless" and "all of the lights" are not in the top 30 solo kanye songs (and i'm being generous)

"mercy" aside, i wouldn't any of those tracks in the better half of the albums they're on tbh

Imagine being excited by a Nicki Minaj album considering her track record/the singles

i wish Kanye and Common had a better signature collaboration to do whenever they're at the same concert than "Get Em High." they coulda reenacted the Chappelle's Show "The Food" performance with Dave maybe.

Any surprise surprise appearances of this stature are welcomed and thus exciting.

common opened w/ "the food" at that show cuz chappelle introduced him but kanye didn't come out until later

two years later and i still enjoy this album a lot, first four tracks especially still surprise and overwhelm, the charlie wilson vocal in "bound 2" still resonates

the dancehall elements are some of the best parts imo, if this album did anything for me it made me want to listen to capleton and beenie man more

very weird to read the first reactions in this thread esp to "new slaves" and see people think kanye wasn't parodying white voices in the "what you want, a bentley? fur coat? a diamond chain? all you blacks want all the same things" line, i don't know how you could hear that any other way?

same. there are things on this album that don't work but absolutely nothing that's unintentional and, of the elements considered controversial, almost nothing that's included solely to shock or lacks a pointed significance, w/ the possible exception of "i'm in it"
