Thanks for this new batch of DJ Q mixes. Listening to one right now, r|t|c

(Well, thanks to Q as well obviously.)

This little change at around 8:50 (during "Mind Reader") in the 9/12/2013 (British style) is the kind of thing that kills me in these mixes. I don't know how unique it is, but I love it and as soon as I heard it I thought about how good it would sound in the car. I think driving around with these mixes has had a lot to do with my absorbing them.

i think maybe the only other uk garage dj to reach all-time/all-genre greatness is EZ, who is much more technically flashy but fuck it, Q surpassed him long ago.

Drop Lamond's "Feeling High" (in the Boxing Night set) is one of those tunes that starts off seeming understated but turns out to be crazy and crazy good.

Love when these mixes go polyphonic.

And it's an abstraction of an abstraction (music) or an extraction of an extraction. If music is a distilation of life, and then you distill that distillation? If someone gets that right (at least for a given listener--hello!), it's super potent. Rather than Plato's shadow of a shadow, it seems more like the essence of an essence. (Sorry if this is overboard. I'm prepared to blame a sudafed buzz if needed.)

Is it just my imagination or is there a higher quotient of bassy 2-step tunes with a 2001 vibe in the last couple of months' sets than was there previously?

To those of you who have the album already: do you hear anything different about the tracks previously released as singles?

I find it impossible to write anything insightful about these mixes, but I've been listening to the panama bar set a lot this week, and the mixture of melancholy and euphoria seems really extraordinary to me - I want to group it with some DJ Sprinkles mixes, maybe, but mostly out of ignorance.

I like Kaytranada but he seems to have been embraced by the most boring DJs around my parts.

been listening to nothing but these MOS radio sets for the past week and now all other music feels lethargic

So, if I like DJ Q and I like a lot a high percentage of stuff on the UK bubblers threads, what would be some good, related, earlier dance music to check out? Please recommend compilations, albums, DJ sets, mixes, etc. I'm especially interested in 90s UK garage, which I know nothing about. (Not interested in jungle, but that would not be the obvious direction to take this anyway.)

Like maybe up to 12 (LP length) recommendations?
