This album is great. I just can't wait to hear the mastered version.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Wednesday, 9 January 2008 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

so you think is an early leak?

the only two weak songs on here are 'knee deep at atp' and 'this is how you spell hahaha'. everything else is great. love how it's sequenced, too.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 January 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

worst album cover of 2008 for sure

Zeno, Thursday, 17 January 2008 09:46 (eighteen years ago)

"I cherish, in fondness, the day before I met you" is such a great line.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 17 January 2008 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

My favourite on the album is "If you catch me with my hands in the till, I promise SUGAH I wasn't trying to steal"

Dom Passantino, Thursday, 17 January 2008 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

makes me want to kill

braveclub, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:36 (eighteen years ago)

The correct line is 'god help us if there's a war' but 'makes me want to kill' will do.

Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:39 (eighteen years ago)

Would have been shit in 1998 as well.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:39 (eighteen years ago)

Dingbod Kesterson, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 10:41 (eighteen years ago)

Dom--M S T U have reformed.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:23 (eighteen years ago)

liveblog: im listening to 'We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives' on youtube.

the male vocalist in the verses... ah, are all their songs like this?

except for him, it isn't noticeably worse than other indie records that i have heard.

oh shit though the male vocalist just came back in. gotdamn, dom.

banriquit, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:24 (eighteen years ago)

Seriously?

They went 'on hiatus' so N@t could get rid of the people she didn't like. Now they are back.

Raw Patrick, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:25 (eighteen years ago)

ok, 'You! Me! Dancing!'

intro much? but at least no vocals yet. i can imagine this going down well in an indie nightclub -- not a recommendation. this is like that curtis thread about bands who use loads of instruments at once -- that tinkly thing yo.

ok fuck this the vocalist is just.... dnw dnw dnw

Would this be the same "people" who in an interview I did with them declared a dislike of... I've said too much.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

Also you are all missing the most important factor which is that THE DUDE SINGER LOOKS LIKE GRAHAM.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

A 9/10? With the reviewer fighting the impulse to give it 10/10?

What am I missing with this band?

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 18 April 2008 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, it's only one review, obv., but the disc is getting pretty good reviews overall, and I just don't get it.

It's you! It's me! And there's dancing!

Yes it's twee indie rock/pop but it's done very well. Love this song.

Are you fucking listening, Pitchfork’s [nabisco] [.]?

Raw Patrick, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:30 (seventeen years ago)

He only said "white" three times. Disappointing.

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:33 (seventeen years ago)

It's true though, everyone who likes this band is actually a paedo. No exceptions.

Matt DC, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:39 (seventeen years ago)

I had a really good zing I was gonna write here, but I'd get a pissy facebook message if I did.

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:41 (seventeen years ago)

I've not heard a single note by them. I think I like them because Swells doesn't, though. Although I do kind of agree with his statement of Doran's idea - basically "it's 2008 and the world's ending, why are you dressing as a 7-year-old", only I think it ought to be "It's 2008 and the world's ending, we might as well dress as 7-year-olds".

Do it, Dom.

Scik Mouthy, Monday, 18 August 2008 11:42 (seventeen years ago)

I wonder if Swells/Doran is getting one after Swells slagged off a DiS sponsored tour?

Sounds like someone is super jealous of Nabisco.

(Who wouldn't be? Oreos! Liking which makes you a pederast, too, obvs.)

Momus to thread.

but i'm a weirdo who thinks the first to lc! albums are mostly like... fine. first three tracks of we are beautiful are the greatest songs ever made but it's hard for me to inhabit the rest like i did when i was in college

ivy., Monday, 20 January 2025 15:25 (one year ago)

first two*

ivy., Monday, 20 January 2025 15:26 (one year ago)

likewise, the first two are kind of inseparable from being 16/17. whereas I've aged alongside the others more so. if i was making a list of the greatest twee/indie pop records I would put HONY in there with a bullet though.
